Ted Gaines Leads Again! Pacific Justice Institute Press Release...

Posted by Aaron Park on March 15, 2008 at 02:46 PM

Ted Gaines led a press conference on the steps on the Capitol regarding Homeschooling in light of the recent decision by the CA 2nd Cricuit Court of Appeals.

The Court did the bidding of the CTA in a decision that basically outlawed homeschooling.

Assemblyman Gaines joined up with the Pacific Justice Institute to stand up for the rights of parents to spare their children from the brainwashing of a Government School.

Ose, on the other hand – well, let’s have Ken Campbell tell the story

Ted Gaines leads, Ose votes like a Democrat once again.

Tom McClintock announces candidacy this Morning...

Posted by Aaron Park on March 04, 2008 at 11:03 AM

At the same historic courthouse in Auburn where Doug Ose announced a few weeks ago, Tom McClintcok announced his candidacy for the 4th Congressional District.

Flanking Tom McClintock were Assemblymember Ted Gaines, Rick Keene, Yuba Supervisor Dan Logue, Auburn City Councilmember Kevin Hanley and now Former Conregssional Candidate Eric Egland.

Senator Sam Aanestad emceed the ceremony introducing each speaker. Eric Egland discontinued his congressional campaign as he introduced and endorsed Tom McClintock.

Tom delivered a stump speech which set a clear distinction between himself Doug Ose. Tom reminded us of why the GOP lost Congress in 2006 and how his candidacy represents a return to the vaules the GOP abandoned.

Tom McClintcok mentioned that he received 36,000 more votes than Charlie Bronw did in 2006.

The big winner was Kevin Hanley, Auburn City Councilman. Auburn has been the center of the anti-Doolittle movement and to see Hanley stand up for Conservative values.

Also, Ted Gaines and Rick Keene were huge winners as well because they are distinguishing themselves as warriors for Conservative Values.

Supervisor Dan Logue and Sue Horne guarantee that the successor to Rick Keene will support Tom McClintock.

Doug Ose just got welcomed to the resurrection.

Incredible notes from the Placer Central Committee Meeting last night.

Posted by Aaron Park on February 14, 2008 at 09:41 AM

Ted Gaines should be saluted for standing up last night for principles and values. Last night Ted stood up with Doug Ose present at the Central Committee meeting.

Ted Gaines standing up prevented Doug Ose from intimidating members of the Central Committee. Ted provided the counter-weight to Doug Ose – this is leadership under fire.

George Park – President of the Placer CRA and the 1st Vice Chair of the Placer GOP said, “Ted Gaines deserves 100% support of the Placer CRA for as long as he wants to be in office”

George went on to say that he had never seen, short of Rico Oller in the past, a member of the State legislature stand up in this manner for Conservative Principles.

According to George and others on the committee – Ose was carrying himself in an arrogant and condescending manner the entire night.

Example – when Jim Dutton mentioned the NRA dinner coming up he made notice of gun control laws that prevented him from bringing the grand raffle prize to show people. Dutton was afraid to bring the rifle to the Hotel because he thought they would call the police on him.

Ose’s reaction was incredulous.

Before the Central Committee voted 17-8 to endorse Rico Oller… Bruce Kranz brought up a motion intended to prevent the Central Committee from endorsing in Partisan Primaries.

That motion failed 4-21. This means that Rico has the support of 21 of the Central Comittee members – 4 that didn’t vote to endorse Rico were doing so over procedural objections.

George stated, “Senator Cox and Senator Aanestad’s letter attempted to dissuade the Central Committee from endorsing in the 4th Congressional District had no effect”

The primary counterpoint to that argument was delivered in the debate on the motion – the Central Committee members thought that Senator Cox and Aanestad’s point about the divisive nature of a Central Committee endorsement was absurd because they had endorsed themselves.

The big winners tonight were Rico Oller with the endorsement and Ted Gaines for showing his mettle as a leader.

The big loser was Doug Ose not only because he showed up and lost – but also because of the way he carried himself.

CRA Endorses Rico Oller and Ted Gaines

Posted by Aaron Park on February 02, 2008 at 04:14 PM

In a clear and irrefutable sign of activist support, the CRA voted to endorse Rico Oller for Congress with 81% of the delegates in favor of Oller.

Eric Egland and Doug Ose split the remainder of delegates present.

The CRA understands that our endorsement goes to candidates whose record most closely mirrors our 14 principles.

CRA Scorecard favorite Ted Gaines (94%) was endorsed by a count of 15-1 for Assembly. Ted has established an excellent Conservative record and has also distinguished himself by endorsing Rico Oller over the establishment choice for the 4th CD.

The CRA has long been known for standing up for the core principles of the Republican Party – including our outspoken support for Governor Romney in these days leading up to super Tuesday.

These endorsements are also underscored in their importance because of Doug Ose’s past affiliation with the Mainstreet Partnership – an organization dedicated to removing the Conservative voice from the GOP and Ose’s past activities have also included attempted takeovers of County GOP committees to remove Conservatives from their ranks.

The Placer CRA and the CRA itself understands the gravity of the coming election on Tuesday for the National GOP and in June for the local GOP.

Polls on Fox news are showing McCain losing to either Dem nominee – is it any wonder when strong GOP areas are having to fight a conscience and future defining battle every few years?

Doug Ose and John McCain are not only tied together in ideology, but by the Mainstreet Partnership.

Rico Oller Endorsed by Ted Gaines!

Posted by Aaron Park on January 24, 2008 at 08:47 PM

This is old news, but… is a very wise move on the part of the Assemblyman.

Ted Gaines is a conservative and this endorsement demonstrates that while this blogger disagreed with his decision to open a committee against Doolittle – in the end Ted Gaines is a Conservative. (And a Placer CRA member in good standing)

Pasted Below is the release from Rico Oller’s Campaign -

Assemblyman Ted Gaines Endorses Conservative Businessman Rico Oller for Congress

Gaines: “Oller will fight wasteful spending and secure our borders”

ROSEVILLE, CA—Conservative Republican business owner Rico Oller announced today the endorsement of Assemblyman Ted Gaines (R-Roseville) in the race for the Republican nomination for the 4th Congressional District.

“ Rico Oller , like me, is a small business owner who knows how to create jobs,” stated Gaines. “He will not only use that business experience to cut wasteful spending, but Rico Oller will lead the charge to clean up the mess in Washington , D.C. ”

Gaines, who is the father of six children, said Oller’s performance during his service in the State Legislature proves that Oller is “a strong conservative that will protect traditional family values, fight to secure our borders, improve our local infrastructure and always vote against tax hikes.”

“My wife, Beth, and I personally know Rico and his wife, Londa,” continued Gaines. “We know the Ollers are a good family who share the same values as we do.”

Oller, who recently celebrated his 29th wedding anniversary with his wife, Londa, is pleased to gain the support of the Assemblyman from the 4th Assembly District.

“Assemblyman Ted Gaines’ endorsement is a big boost to my campaign for Congress,” said Oller. “I’m honored to have the support of such a respected, conservative leader.”

Gaines, who represents Placer, El Dorado and Alpine counties plus a portion of Sacramento County in the State Assembly, had previously served six years as a Placer County Supervisor.

“ Rico Oller will stand up for hard-working taxpayers and make government accountable again,” proclaimed Gaines. “We need his conservative leadership in the United States Congress.”

Domino Effect - Gaines stays in Assembly, Hogue closes campaign

Posted by Aaron Park on January 14, 2008 at 02:11 PM

Eric Hogue Keeps Faith with Assembly District 4

For months, Conservative Republican Eric Hogue has prepared to fight the good fight, and to assure that Assembly District 4 would have a strong, conservative voice should Assemblyman Ted Gaines decide to seek the seat in Congress that recently opened with the resignation of Congressman Doolittle. With Mr. Gaines’ announcement he will not be running for congress in 2008, Eric Hogue announces today he is reluctantly withdrawing his name for consideration in Assembly District 4 for the current election cycle.

“While I am tempted, and have been urged by many to seek office now, I made it clear from the very beginning that my candidacy for Assembly in 2008 was contingent on Ted Gaines running for Congress,” says Eric Hogue. “Since that is not the case, I will stay loyal to my word, and keep faith with those who supported my contingency campaign, and not seek office at this time.”

Eric Hogue will not go quietly into the night. He will continue to voice his concerns on the issues of the day through every medium available. Hogue has stated that He will seek out new ways to prepare for public office. “And just as I was ready for action in Assembly District 4,” says Hogue, “you can rest assured I will continue to seek opportunities for elected office, and to serve in a manner that will fulfill our common goals of effective, responsive, and responsible leadership.”

Hogue has also made mention of his ‘grassroots’ supporters, “My thanks and gratitude for those who helped launch a campaign from scratch – contributing hundreds of volunteer hours with great devotion to the cause. There will be another ‘appointed time’ for service, stay tuned. Until that day, thank you for your support, friendship and commitment. I will personally be speaking to each and every one of you over the next few weeks. I’m humbled, as well as encouraged as we set our sights on the future.”

Lost in the Post Reitrement Shuffle... Eric Hogue for Assembly?

Posted by Aaron Park on January 12, 2008 at 11:25 AM

The latest local buzz has been will Sam Aanestad Run? What about the Doug Ose rumors – does Ose want to run just to try and mess up Rico Oller? Does Ose have a chance in a conservative district like the 4th CD?

Leave us not forget – the “Contingent” Assembly Campaign of one Eric Hogue.

It is no secret that this blogger and Mr. Hogue are close. It is also no secret that as a result of his years on the air in Sacramento that he knows almost everyone in the Capitol.

When I spoke with Eric last night, he reminded me that his campaign is contingent and that support is lining up for him contingent and otherwise…

Senator Jeff Denham publicly endorsed Eric Hogue yesterday and wrote him a check. Audra Strickland, George and Sharon Runner have already publicly endorsed Eric as well.

As best I can tell, support seems to be lining up for Gaines to run for congress as well.

The bottom line – Eric Hogue’s future and Ted Gaines future seems to rest on the shoulders of one man – Ted Gaines himself.

I don’t really think the race is going to amount to much more than Gaines vs. Oller for the 4th Congressional.

The bottom line is that John Doolittle’s retirement has yielded three big winners and one colossal loser:

Winners:
Rico Oller
Ted Gaines
Eric Hogue

Colossal Loser:
Charlie Brown

Rico Oller will announce Candidacy Today by 11am EXCLUSIVE

Posted by Aaron Park on January 10, 2008 at 11:20 AM

This blogger spoke to Rico Oller this morning regarding announcing his candidacy for the 4th Congressional District.

Rico will announce today by 11am per what he told this Blogger this morning.

Next will most likely be an announcement from Ted Gaines -

The 12 Days of Gravitas - OK we'll spare you

Posted by Aaron Park on December 26, 2007 at 10:27 PM

Remember all the talk back in 2000 about Gravitas?

I think the Gravitas argument bears consideration right here in the 2008 Congressional Race.

Eric Egland came out of the gate strong with a nice challenger showing of $77,000 in the 3rd quarter of 2007, timed perfectly when John Doolittle was at a low point. Egland has showed no signs of raising any significant support or money since.

During that same low point – Assemblyman Ted Gaines, whose existence in the Assembly is due in large part to John Doolittle’s network… has been in hiding every since he uttered the now famous words to the Sacramento Bee’s editorial board – “I think John Doolittle has lost his ability to lead.”

Egland’s campaign is falling apart – no Gravitas. Gaines attack on the Congressman and subsequent disappearance suggests a lack of Gravitas.

Now that Ted Gaines is finally starting to appear again – is he lining up to send Eric Hogue back home for a safe play, or is he going to show everyone he has some Gravitas and take the plunge to run for Congress.

If Gaines and his supporters don’t think Doolittle can raise the $1 Million plus to win – then it is now time for decisive action. Quit hiding in the bunker and show us some moxie.

As Jeff Flint has written in the past about Egland – now is the time to define some issues. Obtuse statements about looking into rigged special elections to raise parcel taxes isn’t going to do the job.

Time to lead while you think John Doolittle has lost it – someone, anyone. Otherwise shut up and support the Congressman. Whining with no alternative is like supporting Charlie Brown.

Interesting Comment fom the other Blog... Re: Kranz Effect

Posted by Aaron Park on October 28, 2007 at 06:44 PM

On the Red County Placer Blog, I cross posted the Saturday commentary about the Kranz effect.

The only response that has come from the Gaines camp is an anonymous commenter who wrote -

“Correction Aaron – you can have no idea how much Gaines has raised because federal election law does not require it to be reported until he actually becomes a candidate. He could have raised $75 or $75,000.”

I wrote the following comment in response -

Correction FEC, 49er, Outed, more scandal too… (I referenced the multiple names the same commenter has used on that other blog)

You still have to report a PAC / committee with more than $1000 in it. It may well be that you don’t until 12/31.

Blogger’s note – The Placer CRA has a PAC that we have to file every six months

I’d have also heard if Gaines has had any federal fundraisers as well. Since I know you know who I am and what my connections are as I am pretty sure of your real identity as well…

Here’s the deal – whatever hairs you want to split with me in an attempt to invalidate my post… you dodge the real point. Gaines underestimated the solidarity of support behind John Doolittle.

Others looking at the 9/30 reports as a rallying point for the ABD crowd are going to be disappointed once those aforementioned Doolittle supporters start writing out those checks.

If Gaines had raised any significant amount of money, he’d have reported it to the Sacramento Bee’s editorial board since he started his exploratory committee there.

But you knew that, too.

I’d expect better than an anonymous comment from someone calling themself “FEC” or whatever name you choose the next time you comment.

Ted deserves better, like supporters who will stand up and be counted.

Frankly – I’d expect better from Ted Gaines as well. Members / relatives of His staff have been going after this blogger anonymously on the other blog.

A once friendly relationship is now gone, because I have dared to stand behind John Doolittle for the one of the same reasons why I have been going after Kerry-Egland… betrayal.

I have restrained myself for several months now while this circus has been ensuing. I have hoped and prayed for Gaines to do the right thing and run for re-election to the Assembly.

Has Ted forgotten that he is in the Assembly because of John Doolittle!? What’s worse for me personally is that my brother and myself were instrumental in securing a CRA endorsement for Ted over RICO OLLER!

What Ted Gaines has done is dead wrong. It is the same kind of Blood-in-the-water opportunism that decimates the Republican farm team time and again. It is also Un-Christian, when your brother is wounded you stand by him and help him out.

Unbelievable.

Saturday Commentary - The Kranz Effect

Posted by Aaron Park on October 27, 2007 at 04:20 PM

By now, readers of this Blog, other Placer County Blogs and the local media all are aware of the celebrated resolution brought by Placer County Supervisor Bruce Kranz to the Placer GOP Central Committee.

The blogger was presented with evidence from friends who work in the capitol that Ted Gaines was cheerfully proclaiming that he had 18 votes to kill the resolution in the days leading up. The ABD caucus jumped on this, thinking it was another sign of weakening support for Doolittle.

It is not that simple. This blogger was blamed by several for that resolution getting into the media and the ensuing circus. I did not leak the resolution not did I post it anywhere – in retrospect, the effect of that resolution getting out to the press was that many on the committee lost their desire to support that resolution. So in that regard, Ted Gaines got where he wanted – the resolution died.

I think Ted Gaines has noted that the sentiments of the Central Committee were behind that resolution. The only opposition I ever heard to it by Central Committee Members was the personal nature they felt came off from the way Kranz wrote it.

In the days since the celebrated resolution was “postponed indefinitely”, the effects of the resolution have been quite telling…

There were two events in Placer County this week, a “unity event” in Sun City on Monday (10/22) and a Crab Feed last night (Friday 10/26).

There were several departures from the past norms -

1) Egland was absent on Monday night and left early on Friday. Things he has never been known to do before – people have told me for several months now that Egland has been everywhere.

2) Gaines never used to bring a staffer with him to events in the past. Monday night, he was in attendance with two staff.

2a) Friday night, Gaines had bought a table at the Placer GOP Crab Feed but came for a few minutes and left, leaving his table empty. He had a staffer with him.

3) I have been over to the Placer GOP HQ a couple times since the fateful Central Committee meeting. Gaines’ office is next door and there is little activity according to people I have talked to.

The effect of the Kranz resolution is that it brought the anger of some and the disappointment of the rest of John Doolittle’s base to the forefront. Kranz had the guts to do what everyone else only talked about.

If Ted Gaines Congressional campaign was gaining traction, where was the money in his committee 9/30? Why have there been no Gaines for Congress fundraisers? The ABD caucus is making a big fuss over JTD only raising $55,000 in the 3rd quarter 2007, while ignoring Gaines’ $0.

If Egland’s campaign was doing so well – why did his team see fit to go after this blogger with all the venom usually associated for a smear campaign against an opponent?

They have still avoided answering any questions and have yet to demonstrate a campaign based on anything but being a Veteran and pointing the finger at Doolittle. (Heck, Charlie Brown did the same thing in 2006, could Egland be attempting to plagiarize that, too?)

While Gaines has gone completely dark, leaving events quickly and early, Eric Hogue is mounting an upstart Assembly campaign. Has Gaines made enough people mad that he is vulnerable to a primary opponent?

Gaines was quoted in the Sacramento Bee saying that John Doolittle has “lost his ability to lead”. Someone forgot to send the memo to John Doolittle’s base.

Bruce Kranz’ resolution may have been postponed by the Central Committee, but its’ effects were impossible to postpone.

Deborah Johns is Lying about Local Electeds and Mark Williams is helping her

Posted by Aaron Park on October 13, 2007 at 10:57 AM

Move America forward leaders Deborah Johns and Mark Williams have stooped to new lows.

After John Doolittle’s district director (Gordon Hinkle) and this blogger were alerted to Deborah John’s behavior and question at a recent (10/06/2007) South Placer Republican Women’s Federated meeting – Johns refused to take Hinkle’s call and instead forwarded the voicemail to Mark Williams. Williams dutifully posted the call on his website and of course had to add his own twisted commentary to the “daily rant”.

In the call, Hinkle rightly uses the word ‘appalled’ as in appalling to describe Johns’ behavior. Hinkle has personally delivered three flags to grieving families! John Doolittle has contacted every one of the families in addition to their entire staff following strict protocol regarding this issue. (as further stipulated in the call Williams posted on his site.)

Again, the Kerry-Egland / MAF campaign are playing the “Gold Star Mom” / “Military Veteran” card to try to deny us the opportunity to respond to the obvious lies being spread. They are attempting to play the veteran card to label any critics of them as being anti-military.

Deborah Johns asked Kirk Uhler, Placer County Supervisor who was the speaker at the function why the Local Electeds were doing nothing for the families of fallen soldiers. I spoke with Kirk and he went out of his way to tell me that Johns asked the question in such a manner to include all local electeds in the sphere of criticism.

This would include Ted Gaines and therefore would be consistent with Johns’ support of Kerry-Egland for Congress Campaign.

Johns has repeatedly said in public that John Doolittle doesn’t care about the troops and had publicly lambasting John Doolittle over a page 1 Bee article that misquoted John back in July. (which was later retracted on page 18)

Eric Kerry-Egland is truly the John Kerry of the 4th Congressional.

He talks about Christian values, yet is using lies to try and get campaign traction – in addition to making his service the primacy of his campaign.

I would like the Egland Campaign to find me the passage of scripture that condones betrayal (of John Doolittle) and using lies to run a campaign for office.

Quoting Egland’s opening campaign statement: “I have seen first hand how failures in congressional ethics and leadership have corrupted our government and made our troops, our economy, and our nation more vulnerable.”

Mr Egland – people in glass houses should not be throwing bricks.

The Latest Political Dirt! (Hogue vs Allard for the 4th Assembly!?)

Posted by Aaron Park on September 26, 2007 at 08:46 PM

Rico Oller is not running for Assembly, I wrote that weeks ago and Rico is telling everyone. He is telling everyone at the same time as he is telling everyone he will not run against John Doolittle. Rico still polls exceptionally well, like Tim Leslie and their endorsements are incredibly valuable and still with John Doolittle. (And with Dan Logue)

Roseville City Councilmember John Allard has been working the phone non-stop for the last several weeks, he has discovered that John Doolittle’s base is not only solid… most are Annoyed and some are livid over what is being done to John Doolittle. (media smear / Eric Kerry-Egland’s campaign, etc…) Most of the animosity is directed at Ted Gaines.

This confirmed my conversations with a lot of the same people. There are many looking for a new Assemblymember in the 4th.

Eric Hogue is also making tons of calls – he is super serious about running as well.

Both Hogue and Allard are committed Evangelical Christians. Allard worked for Tim Leslie for 12 years, Hogue was on a political talk radio circuit for 6. Hogue has a name ID advantage on Allard, Allard has an insider advantage on Hogue. If one of them commits to running weather or not Ted backs down from running against Doolittle, this will get very interesting.

Notice how you have heard little from Ted Gaines lately? One could construe it as either Ted trying to wait the storm out, or that he is reconsidering. It is not too late for Gaines to get out, but he is going to have to do it soon. www.DontDraftTed.com recently hit the radar screens of local media and capitol insider reports.

Prediction – John Doolittle will file his re-election papers within one week of the filing opening. In fact, I am willing to bet anyone a steak dinner on that fact.

In addition, the only people talking about Eric Kerry-Egland outside of myself are bunch of his brave anonymous commenters. Egland, why didn’t you run for a School Board… the Roseville City School Board has two extremely liberal Democrats on it! The Roseville Joint Union High School District is run by the teacher’s union – we could have used the help! What’s sad is EGLAND would have won running away!

In the 3rd Assembly which covers a slice of Placer, Sue Horne showing weakness started to attack Dan Logue a couple of weeks ago. I had a bombshell laid in my lap a couple of days ago that I posted right here on the Placer CRA Blog.

Also posted today is a sampling of Horne supporter’s comments who have descended on the blog. I also interspersed some comments of my own in the post.

The response was incredible and I was interviewed for a story with the Nevada County Union newspaper which should hit tomorrow.

It is way too early for all this activity – but this is fun stuff for us junkies!!!

Placer GOP Central Committee Update / Resolution Text

Posted by Aaron Park on September 13, 2007 at 01:00 PM

At last night’s Placer GOP Central Committee meeting, a new business item was placed onto next month’s agenda by Supervisor Bruce Kranz.

Bruce, like other Placer County Electeds are quite upset over Assemblymember Gaines decision to form a committee to run against Congressman Doolittle.

The below resolution is my idea of what the committee should adopt:

Whereas, Ted Gaines represents most of Placer County in the State Assembly; and,

Whereas, Ted Gaines has an excellent voting record, a competent staff, and a commitment to public service that reflects Republican principles and Placer County values; and,

Whereas, Ted Gaines was supported almost unanimously by local elected officials and Republican Party activists alike; and,

Whereas, Congressman John Doolittle has represented Placer County with equal effectiveness and passion for our values; and,

Whereas, Ted Gaines has opened an exploratory committee and has announced his desire to run for Congress; and,

Whereas, Ted Gaines actions have caused a great deal of concern among his friends and supporters in Placer County; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, that the Placer County Republican Central Committee calls on Ted Gaines to run for re-election to the State Assembly and to continue to serve as an intelligent and effective advocate of our values in the State Capitol; and, be it further

Resolved, that the Placer County Republican Central Committee expresses its earnest appreciation for Ted Gaines’ contribution to the Republican cause and, in the spirit of Party unity and political harmony, asks him to join us in supporting John Doolittle’s re-election to Congress.

What is the difference between Egland / Gaines and Holmes

Posted by Aaron Park on September 11, 2007 at 08:36 AM

First off, let’s look at what Coloniel Klink has to say:
(note: Eric Kerry-Egland isn’t the only one with a military nickname)

Auburn Journal Article about Doolittle Staying in the race

Roll Call Article where Coloniel Klink takes aim at every GOP candidate for the 4th Congressional

First off should be the glowing comments at the end of the article that Mike (No Dam(n)) Holmes had for Charlie Brown. Second should be how Brown did not return the favor in the roll call article.

Democrats see Republicans equally. Moderate Republicans as evidenced by these articles see themselves as more in line with Democrats and would rather distance themselves from other Republicans. I’ll go one step further as evidenced by No Dam Holmes’ behavior in the last cycle – he supported Charlie Brown and the above linked Auburn Journal article shows no change there. (except this time, former RINO congressman Pete McCloskey is out of the closet as a Dem)

Ted Gaines has been an excellent County Supervisor. However, he has had a penchant for endorsing bonds / taxes on the local level and endorsing Democrats for local office. (this is a common pitfall local electeds are guilty of) Mark Klang points out that Ted has endorsed pro-union school board candidates on his blog.

Ted’s is in office largely due to John Doolittle’s support and the other local electeds that have supported him. Ted seems to have made a major miscalculation in entering the race.

People in the donor community have shared with this blogger that they are not happy about Ted’s decision. Local electeds I have talked to are not going anywhere with regard to their support of Congressman Doolittle.

This is evidenced in the talk about Scott Leslie (Tim’s son), Eric Hogue (Mark Williams Favorite) and Roseville City Councilman John Allard as potential candidates to come in behind Ted for his 4th Assembly seat. In addition, this blogger knows that former supervisor Jim Williams has been approached about running for Assembly as has Kirk Uhler (current supervisor and Lew Uhler’s son).

Ted made a comment when announcing his ‘exploraritory’ committee, stating that the voters have “lost confidence in John Doolittle’s ability to lead”. People thinking about running against someone don’t make comments like that unless they are committed.

This leaves Eric Kerry-Egland. The reactions this blogger has been getting to that characterization tell me that is right on target. Eric Egland is the John Kerry of the 4th Congressional – he used John Doolittle’s campaign to get himself recognition and his team had been planning to turn on John dating back to early 2006. (Betrayal)

In addition – Eric Kerry-Egland tells everyone he meets that he served in Iraq. This should be offensive to every veteran out there that Military service gets reduced to being a campaign tool. I will continue to expand on all these points in future posts, especially about Kerry-Egland.

The Fur is Flying in the 4th Congressional!

Posted by Aaron Park on September 05, 2007 at 10:36 PM

Not only is Ken Campbell taking on Ted Gaines, but Mark Williams has called him “John Doolittle Jr.” Williams has lumped Ted Gaines, John Doolittle and myself into the group of RINO’s that have sold the GOP out. I guess by default, Kerry-Egland is the only ‘pure’ candidate for office in the 4th.

Williams is not the only one to pontificate about there being some sort of deal for John Doolittle to retire and then hand the seat over to Ted. This was plausible until Ted jumped the gun. (Courtesy of Eric Kerry-Egland getting in so early)

Add to this, Mark Klang, a former member of the Rocklin Joint Unified School District has a blog and his latest post is an interesting expose’ of what has happened in that area. It basically blames Ted Gaines and people he has supported for several of the issues in Rocklin’s Schools and the fact that the charter school there has been under attack by the Teacher’s Union.

Klang’s Blog

In summary – Kerry-Egland is trying to run to the right of Doolittle who isn’t pure enough. (Remember, Kerry-Egland served in Iraq, so vote for him)

According to what is posted here and linked here, those authors are saying Ted Gaines supports hate crimes legislation and the teacher’s union.

I guess forming an ‘exploratory’ committee doesn’t exempt you from the fire.

Tim Leslie - "Loyalty Matters"

Posted by Aaron Park on August 31, 2007 at 01:30 PM

Tim Leslie
Former State Senator and Assemblyman

LOYALTY MATTERS

As Benjamin Franklin said so well, so long ago, “a friend in need is a friend indeed”. Our friend John Doolittle is under attack from the liberal left and now from those to whom he has shown true friendship.

In a startling and disappointing display of opportunism and self promotion, Ted Gaines has broken the faith not only with a true friend John Doolittle but with the cause for which John has born the standard for so many years. Of course, those of us who have fought in the arena beside John Doolittle know not only his actions, but over time, his character. John has never wavered in defense of the unborn. He has never faltered in defense of the second amendment. He has never shirked the battle for freedom.

And yet, those who see an opportunity to advance themselves stand ready and willing to join the Sacramento Bee and their left wing minions in viciously attacking John Doolittle. Shame on these small men.

I am calling on you to join me in rejecting the designs of the misguided few. Their faithless assault will only result in harming the conservative cause and the America we love.

America needs John Doolittle. He is our friend. Please join me in supporting him.

Blogger’s Note: This was just received in my e-mail minutes ago.

Ted Gaines Jumps Into the Race !?

Posted by Aaron Park on August 31, 2007 at 11:32 AM

This will leave the 4th Assembly District vacant as well.

How are the deck chairs going to be re-arranged now?

The feeding frenzy that is ensuing here in the 4th Congressional is quite absurd.

Some things I do know:

1. This dooms Eric Kerry-Egland’s campaign

2. There are no heir-apparents to the 4th AD and there is going to be a mad scramble.

3. Everyone I have talked to here locally is shocked by Gaines’ decision.

Why did all of us coalesce behind Ted only to have him bail on his Assembly seat 6 months into the term?
