Taped phone calls attempt to reinvent Doug Ose - Lew Uhler style.
Posted by Aaron Park on February 23, 2008 at 10:54 AM

I have quoted a line from the James Bond Movie – For Your Eyes Only, when Bond looked at the Crossbow-wielding Vixen and said, “When you want revenge – you’d better dig that second grave.”
Team Ose has been using Lew Uhler and his endorsement of Doug Ose to the hilt. Recently, Uhler signed a letter touting Ose as a tax-fighter and taped phone calls went out voiced by Uhler proclaiming Doug Ose to be a Conservative Republican.
Either Lew has failed to do his research on Ose or his desire to act upon a 12 year grudge against Rico Oller has consumed him to a point of egregious political prostitution.
Besides the fact that Ose gives money and support to Democrats over Republicans and was a leader in the Main Street Partnership – a “Republican” group dedicated to attacking Conservatives…
A few of the High Points regarding Ose’s record are as follows:
Voted NO on Constitutional Amendment banning same-sex marriage. (Sep 2004)
Ose Voted NO on protecting the Pledge of Allegiance. (Sep 2004) Remember Michael Newdow and “Under God”.
Ose Rated 61% by the Christian Coalition: mixed voting record on families. (Dec 2003)
Ose Rated D+ by the NRA, indicating a pro-gun control voting record. (Dec 2003) And has a lifetime “F” rating from Gun owners of America.
Ose Rated 0% by FAIR, indicating a voting record loosening immigration. (Dec 2003) FAIR is an Immigration watchdog group – according to their information Ose opposed the border fence as well.
Ose Rated 59% by NTU, indicating “Satisfactory” on tax votes. (Dec 2003)NTU = National Taxpayer’s Union
Lew Uhler’s organization gave Ose a tax-fighter award according to the taped phone call. Apparently, all it takes is a 59% anymore to earn an award. When I was in school, 59% was an “F”.
Apparently, Uhler has changed the definition of a conservative to include someone who opposes traditional marriage, opposes “Under God”, is pro-choice, anti-2nd amendment, anti-1st amendment, mixed on family issues, scores 59% from the NTU and supports open borders.
“When you want revenge, you had better dig that second grave”. The desire to “get” Rico Oller has led Uhler down the garden path.
By the time you read this - McClintock might already have declared (UPDATED FOR ERIC EGLAND)
Posted by Aaron Park on February 19, 2008 at 09:20 AM
McClintock was polling yesterday night.
Team McClintock has called donors, called media outlets and called mail houses.
This sort of thing has been going on for 1 1/2 weeks now… this in not the behavior of someone with an exploratory committee.
McClintock is going to declare either today or tomorrow for the 4th CD.
At that point – stick a fork in everyone else.
However, until Rico gets out, I am not supporting anyone but Rico. (see also ethics)
The CRA will then have to re-convene an endorsing convention even though the field will likely be clear.
UPDATE – EGLAND PRESS RELEASE STATES HE WILL WITHDRAW IF MCCLINTOCK DECLARES. This is Egland taking a slap at both Doolittle and Rico Oller on his way out.
Incredible notes from the Placer Central Committee Meeting last night.
Posted by Aaron Park on February 14, 2008 at 09:41 AM
Ted Gaines should be saluted for standing up last night for principles and values. Last night Ted stood up with Doug Ose present at the Central Committee meeting.
Ted Gaines standing up prevented Doug Ose from intimidating members of the Central Committee. Ted provided the counter-weight to Doug Ose – this is leadership under fire.
George Park – President of the Placer CRA and the 1st Vice Chair of the Placer GOP said, “Ted Gaines deserves 100% support of the Placer CRA for as long as he wants to be in office”
George went on to say that he had never seen, short of Rico Oller in the past, a member of the State legislature stand up in this manner for Conservative Principles.
According to George and others on the committee – Ose was carrying himself in an arrogant and condescending manner the entire night.
Example – when Jim Dutton mentioned the NRA dinner coming up he made notice of gun control laws that prevented him from bringing the grand raffle prize to show people. Dutton was afraid to bring the rifle to the Hotel because he thought they would call the police on him.
Ose’s reaction was incredulous.
Before the Central Committee voted 17-8 to endorse Rico Oller… Bruce Kranz brought up a motion intended to prevent the Central Committee from endorsing in Partisan Primaries.
That motion failed 4-21. This means that Rico has the support of 21 of the Central Comittee members – 4 that didn’t vote to endorse Rico were doing so over procedural objections.
George stated, “Senator Cox and Senator Aanestad’s letter attempted to dissuade the Central Committee from endorsing in the 4th Congressional District had no effect”
The primary counterpoint to that argument was delivered in the debate on the motion – the Central Committee members thought that Senator Cox and Aanestad’s point about the divisive nature of a Central Committee endorsement was absurd because they had endorsed themselves.
The big winners tonight were Rico Oller with the endorsement and Ted Gaines for showing his mettle as a leader.
The big loser was Doug Ose not only because he showed up and lost – but also because of the way he carried himself.
Breaking: Placer County Republican Central Committee Endorses Rico Oller

In another bold move, the Placer County Republican Central Committee has taken a position in the 4th Congressional Race.
While the local establishment is lining up behind Doug Ose who has started running ads… the activist dominated placer County Republican Central Committee chose to endorse Rico Oller.
The Statewide California Republican Assembly endorsed Oller two weekends ago and the local Republican Central Committee body has followed that endorsement showing real strength for Rico amongst the Republican faithful.
Ose’s advertisement purchase is aimed at displaying to the “beltway” that he is the favorite.
Oller’s endorsement by the Central Committee of the most populous county in the District sends an even louder message.
How this plays out will remain to be seen – but it would certainly put an exclamation point on the rumors about Ose’s desire to take down the Placer GOP Central Committee.
The endorsement required 2/3 of the vote and was obtained easily.
Tom McClintock is Running for Congress in the 4th CD

In am calling it now – due to multiple phone calls with people who would know and e-mails from the same types.
Jeff Flint was tipped off at Noon by folks in the Capitol. After following up on the post by Flint, the Flash Report posted the following:
What are the conservatives on Ose’s endorsement list going to do?
I can guarantee you that Ose will not back down – his past track record of attacking Conservatives would suggest that he will not allow Rico or McClintock a free pass.
What happens to Rico?
Unless Rico releases me from my personal committment to him – I will not endorse anyone else. No slight to McClintock.
The whole thing has gone berzerk…
Club for Growth endorses Rico Oller
Posted by Aaron Park on February 04, 2008 at 02:14 PM
Ken Campbell for sent this information out to all of us.
I have taken the occasion to LINK the Blog posting from the Club for Growth endorsing Rico Oller.
In contrast to Oller’s stellar record, his likely opponent, former Congressman Doug Ose, has a lackluster record that includes voting for increased spending, increased regulation, and limiting economic freedom:
Voted for McCain-Feingold and against protecting political free speech (RC #240, 02/14/02)
Voted against school choice (RC #135, 05/23/01)
Voted against eliminating money for pork projects, like wood utilization (RC #160, 05/26/99) and peanut competitiveness (RC#161, 05/26/99)
Voted against the Republican Study Committee budget that would cut wasteful spending (RC #73, 03/23/00) (RC #79, 03/20/03) and for a Democratic budget (RC #75, 03/25/99)
Voted to spend taxpayer money on mohair subsidies (RC #383, 07/11/00)
Voted for the fiscally irresponsible Medicare Prescription Drug Bill (RC #669, 11/22/03)
Sponsored 37 bills to increase spending by $46.7 billion in the 107th Congress

CRA Endorses Rico Oller and Ted Gaines
Posted by Aaron Park on February 02, 2008 at 04:14 PM
In a clear and irrefutable sign of activist support, the CRA voted to endorse Rico Oller for Congress with 81% of the delegates in favor of Oller.
Eric Egland and Doug Ose split the remainder of delegates present.
The CRA understands that our endorsement goes to candidates whose record most closely mirrors our 14 principles.
CRA Scorecard favorite Ted Gaines (94%) was endorsed by a count of 15-1 for Assembly. Ted has established an excellent Conservative record and has also distinguished himself by endorsing Rico Oller over the establishment choice for the 4th CD.
The CRA has long been known for standing up for the core principles of the Republican Party – including our outspoken support for Governor Romney in these days leading up to super Tuesday.
These endorsements are also underscored in their importance because of Doug Ose’s past affiliation with the Mainstreet Partnership – an organization dedicated to removing the Conservative voice from the GOP and Ose’s past activities have also included attempted takeovers of County GOP committees to remove Conservatives from their ranks.
The Placer CRA and the CRA itself understands the gravity of the coming election on Tuesday for the National GOP and in June for the local GOP.
Polls on Fox news are showing McCain losing to either Dem nominee – is it any wonder when strong GOP areas are having to fight a conscience and future defining battle every few years?
Doug Ose and John McCain are not only tied together in ideology, but by the Mainstreet Partnership.
The establishment is flexing its' muscles... Ose to get all five Placer Supes?

That is what this blogger is hearing.
It stands to reason as Robert Weygant has a liberal record, and Jim Holmes represents Auburn. Auburn is the heart of the ABD caucus and it seems that the ABD mindset is going to transfer to Rico Oller.
With Kranz and Uhler already on board with Ose, that leaves only Rocky Rockholm. Rockholm would follow his colleagues as I know of no personal issue or idealogical reason for Rockholm to choose the Liberal Doug Ose over Rico Oller.
In other news, Ose is citing polling data that shows Rico in a dead heat with Charlie Brown.
Rico has 80% name ID in this district – Ose 20%. There’s the tiebreaker – also, the Republican that wins the primary is going to win the General.
Charlie Brown is dealing with an 18% registration differential – that is insurmountable when you can’t throw the corruption label around.
When Ose’s liberal record comes into the minds of the voters – I anticipate that Ose will have to attack Rico. This campaign is shaping up to be brutal.

GUN OWNERS OF AMERICA WEBSITE
Thursday, January 17, 2008
California’s very conservative (and pro-gun) 4th Congressional District has just turned into an “open” seat with the retirement of Congressman John Doolittle. Conservative former state legislator Rico Oller has thrown his hat into the ring, making this race GOA’s Number One target for a house seat in the entire country.
A couple of points about this race. The registration numbers show 48% of the district as Republican and 30% as Democrat—so whoever wins the Republican primary clearly is the next Congressman. Especially since the Democrat is an ultra-liberal card-carrying (really!) member of the ACLU. (The Tin Soldier, Charlie Brown)
Next point. That California primary is mere months away, so
everything we can do for Rico Oller needs to be done NOW. That’s why GOA is asking every member of our team to use the web to send Rico Oller your most generous on-line campaign contribution as soon as possible. If you can send additional donations during the few months ahead, we urge you to do so.
Point three. Rico has a primary opponent in former liberal Republican Congressman Doug Ose. During Ose’s six years in Congress, he earned a GOA “F” on every single one of our ratings for house members.
Ose voted IN FAVOR of keeping the Washington D.C. gun ban. He voted to outlaw individual sales at gun shows. He voted for mandatory sale of trigger locks for any handgun sold. He voted to silence outside groups like GOA at election time.
Doug Ose probably has his picture framed and hanging on the wall at Handgun Control Inc. (now the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence), since he was one of their best friends in Congress.
In contrast—Rico Oller was a perfect “A” rated member of the California Legislature during his tenure. And, Rico is the human equivalent of the “energizer bunny.” This guy is a type A++ personality, who never stops campaigning and promoting our Second Amendment rights. Every time Gun Owners has an event in California, Rico Oller is there, promoting our organization and the Second Amendment. And he will be there for gun owners all over the country when he is elected to Congress.
But he needs our help! Rico’s big opponent, Doug Ose, is personally wealthy and will put substantial amounts of his own money into the campaign, along with money from liberal groups around the nation.
We need to step up and make sure this solid conservative pro-gun congressional seat is filled with “one of ours!” Please use the url below and send Rico Oller your most generous contribution right now. Then, please be sure to let all of your pro-gun friends and family know about this great opportunity.
Thank you.

Rico Oller Endorsed by Ted Gaines!
Posted by Aaron Park on January 24, 2008 at 08:47 PM
This is old news, but… is a very wise move on the part of the Assemblyman.
Ted Gaines is a conservative and this endorsement demonstrates that while this blogger disagreed with his decision to open a committee against Doolittle – in the end Ted Gaines is a Conservative. (And a Placer CRA member in good standing)
Pasted Below is the release from Rico Oller’s Campaign -
Assemblyman Ted Gaines Endorses Conservative Businessman Rico Oller for Congress
Gaines: “Oller will fight wasteful spending and secure our borders”
ROSEVILLE, CA—Conservative Republican business owner Rico Oller announced today the endorsement of Assemblyman Ted Gaines (R-Roseville) in the race for the Republican nomination for the 4th Congressional District.
“ Rico Oller , like me, is a small business owner who knows how to create jobs,” stated Gaines. “He will not only use that business experience to cut wasteful spending, but Rico Oller will lead the charge to clean up the mess in Washington , D.C. ”
Gaines, who is the father of six children, said Oller’s performance during his service in the State Legislature proves that Oller is “a strong conservative that will protect traditional family values, fight to secure our borders, improve our local infrastructure and always vote against tax hikes.”
“My wife, Beth, and I personally know Rico and his wife, Londa,” continued Gaines. “We know the Ollers are a good family who share the same values as we do.”
Oller, who recently celebrated his 29th wedding anniversary with his wife, Londa, is pleased to gain the support of the Assemblyman from the 4th Assembly District.
“Assemblyman Ted Gaines’ endorsement is a big boost to my campaign for Congress,” said Oller. “I’m honored to have the support of such a respected, conservative leader.”
Gaines, who represents Placer, El Dorado and Alpine counties plus a portion of Sacramento County in the State Assembly, had previously served six years as a Placer County Supervisor.
“ Rico Oller will stand up for hard-working taxpayers and make government accountable again,” proclaimed Gaines. “We need his conservative leadership in the United States Congress.”
Abortion Rate hits lowest rate since 1974.
Posted by Aaron Park on January 19, 2008 at 04:26 PM
The attached ARTICLE details how the abortion rate is at it’s lowest since 1974.
The rate is 11+ per 1,000 or a bit over 1%.
“Only” 1.2 million cases of legalized infanticide occurred last year.
Read the article and you can tell the slant right away – it makes you feel like only 1.2 million murdered “fetuses” is a bad thing. If it wasn’t for crisis pregnancy centers, Christians (and Mormons) getting in the way… the abortion mills wouldn’t be so upset about business dropping off.
This article illustrates that the abortion issue is a winner for social conservatives. Why? People are using contraception and more women are realizing that this is a life in their womb.
Even Doug Ose (who supports abortion at any time, fully funded with tax dollars as well), would acknowledge that Medi-Cal paying for one woman to have seven abortions is an outrage. (A good friend who works for Sac County has told me that several of his clients have had 3-7 abortions at a cost of $6,500 a piece to the taxpayers)
The voters must think so, too. Surveys still show strong majorities oppose taxpayer funded abortion and think abortion should not be legal after the baby (fetus) has brain waves and a heartbeat. (roughly 6 weeks)
The establishment Republicans run from this issue to their own peril while Americans are figuring it out on their own. Yet another place where the GOP has lost an opportunity.
Romney? One of the attacks being leveled against him is that he flip-flopped on this issue. I posted an article a few months ago from a Massachusetts paper lambasting him for being pro-life long before he decided to run for President.
McCain? used to be pro-life until he decided Lieberman and Kennedy were his best buddies. Endorsed by liberals such as Doug Ose and Jim Nielsen who are two of his delegates from California. (both are pro-choice)
Rudy? I am sure one of his mistresses had to have an abortion.
Fred Thompson and Mike Huckabee are right on this issue.
Rico Oller – as Pro-Life as they come. Another reason why Rico is the “Choice” of the 4th CD.
UPDATE: Steve Frank has also weighed in on this issue Steve’s Blog Post
Please note that Steve’s blog is having some technical issues – his post about abortion is January 20th’s post.
Breaking - Sam Aanestad is not running for Congress
Posted by Aaron Park on January 15, 2008 at 08:24 PM
I have received a few phone calls from local elected officials that have spoken with the Senator.
They have confirmed what George and I heard from Senator Aanestad himself the day of John Doolittle’s press conference – Sam Aanestad has no interest in running for congress.
Apparently, what the Nevada County Union reported on may have been off-hand comments by the Senator.
Considering that I have even spoken with Assemblyman Keene about that very subject (as in Keene for Congress) – it seems natural that any state level office holder would toy with the idea of running for Congress.
I was also told that Senator Sam should be issuing a press release or statement to that effect.
Two specific sources, one directly and one through a 3rd party told this blogger that the Senator will be making an endorsement as well.

Gaines is Out - Ose is in (most likely)
Posted by Aaron Park on January 14, 2008 at 01:15 PM
About an Hour ago – Gaines sent out a press release announcing that he is not running for Congress.
This leaves Doug Ose as the most credible opponent for Rico Oller -
In the words of the club for growth – Ose is a Democrat, not a Republican…
“The first, former Rep. Doug Ose (1999-2004), has a history of too often voting for increased government spending and increased regulation. Some of these votes include:
Voted for McCain-Feingold and against protecting political free speech (RC #240, 02/14/02)
Voted against school choice (RC #135, 05/23/01)
Voted against the Republican Study Committee budget that would cut wasteful spending(RC #73, 03/23/00) (RC #79, 03/20/03)
Voted to spend taxpayer money on mohair subsidies (RC #383, 07/11/00)
Voted for the Medicare Prescription Drug Bill (RC #669, 11/22/03) “
Check the Club for Growth’s blog, entry dated 1/11/2008.
Ose is also horrid on the gun issue, more on that soon.
Lost in the Post Reitrement Shuffle... Eric Hogue for Assembly?
Posted by Aaron Park on January 12, 2008 at 11:25 AM

The latest local buzz has been will Sam Aanestad Run? What about the Doug Ose rumors – does Ose want to run just to try and mess up Rico Oller? Does Ose have a chance in a conservative district like the 4th CD?
Leave us not forget – the “Contingent” Assembly Campaign of one Eric Hogue.
It is no secret that this blogger and Mr. Hogue are close. It is also no secret that as a result of his years on the air in Sacramento that he knows almost everyone in the Capitol.
When I spoke with Eric last night, he reminded me that his campaign is contingent and that support is lining up for him contingent and otherwise…
Senator Jeff Denham publicly endorsed Eric Hogue yesterday and wrote him a check. Audra Strickland, George and Sharon Runner have already publicly endorsed Eric as well.
As best I can tell, support seems to be lining up for Gaines to run for congress as well.
The bottom line – Eric Hogue’s future and Ted Gaines future seems to rest on the shoulders of one man – Ted Gaines himself.
I don’t really think the race is going to amount to much more than Gaines vs. Oller for the 4th Congressional.
The bottom line is that John Doolittle’s retirement has yielded three big winners and one colossal loser:
Winners:
Rico Oller
Ted Gaines
Eric Hogue
Colossal Loser:
Charlie Brown

Rico Oller will announce Candidacy Today by 11am EXCLUSIVE
Posted by Aaron Park on January 10, 2008 at 11:20 AM
This blogger spoke to Rico Oller this morning regarding announcing his candidacy for the 4th Congressional District.
Rico will announce today by 11am per what he told this Blogger this morning.
Next will most likely be an announcement from Ted Gaines -
