The Era of the Speech Police has started! Obama kicks media off plane!

Posted by "Pat Buchanan, Jr." on October 31, 2008 at 10:05 AM

From the Drudge Report:

PURGE: SKEPTICAL REPORTERS TOSSED OFF OBAMA PLANE
Fri Oct 31 2008 08:39:55 ET

NY POST, DALLAS MORNING NEWS, WASHINGTON TIMES TOLD TO GET OUTALL 3 ENDORSED MCCAIN

Exclusive

The Obama campaign has decided to heave out three newspapers from its plane for the final days of its blitz across battleground states—and all three endorsed Sen. John McCain for president!

The NY POST, WASHINGTON TIMES and DALLAS MORNING NEWS have all been told to move out by Sunday to make room for network bigwigs—and possibly for the inclusion of reporters from two black magazines, ESSENCE and JET, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

Despite pleas from top editors of the three newspapers that have covered the campaign for months at extraordinary cost, the Obama campaign says their reporters and possibly others will have to vacate their coveted seats so more power players can document the final days of Sen. Barack Obama’s historic campaign to become the first black American president.

MORE

Some told the DRUDGE REPORT that the reporters are being ousted to bring on documentary film-makers to record the final days; others expect to see on board more sympathetic members of the media, including the NY TIMES’ Maureen Dowd, who once complained that she was barred from McCain’s Straight Talk Express airplane.

After a week of quiet but desperate behind the scenes negotiations, the reporters of the three papers heard last night that they were definitely off for the final swing. They are already planning how to cover the final days by flying commercial or driving from event to event.

McCain, Obama enjoy Placer's checkbook

Posted by "Pat Buchanan, Jr." on October 30, 2008 at 09:48 PM

Roseville and Granite Bay have ponied up big bucks for national candidates in this year’s presidential election cycle, records show.

Political donations by residents in the four Zip codes comprising the greater-Roseville region were on track to break local records this election cycle, according to data from the Center for Responsive Politics, a Washington-based nonprofit that tracks political donations.

Total area donations topped $677,722 by the end of August, putting the region on track to break the $685,775 raised during the last presidential race in the intervening weeks, records show.

This year’s figure includes donations to the presidential and congressional candidates and PACs made during the current election cycle up until Aug. 31, including during the primaries.

And despite the region’s large Republican registration, Democratic candidates and organizations walked away with a surprisingly large share of the largesse, according to a Press-Tribune analysis.

Affluent Granite Bay led the pack. Donations from the 95746 Zip code stood at $351,888 – about eight times as much as the average Zip code – according to the most recent tally.

The time covered includes the period in which both presidential candidates accepted individual contributions; Sen. McCain stopped accepting direct campaign contributions on Sept. 1 because he opted for public financing, a move Sen. Obama resisted.

Who’s on the receiving end? Records show Democrat Barack Obama led his Republican rival John McCain, $40,400 to $35,950 among Granite Bay residents.

But enthusiasm in the primaries for Republican presidential also-ran Mitt Romney dwarfed those. He had collected $68,550 from Granite Bay before the end of his run, records show.

The individual candidate totals should be considered a rough glimpse into an area’s donation preferences because they do not include non-itemized contributions totaling less than $200.

Placer County is the state’s second-most Republican county, with the GOP claiming 49.7 percent of registered voters to 29.6 percent for Democrats.

But that advantage doesn’t always translate into a clear fundraising trend.

The east Roseville neighborhood of 95661, which also includes a portion of Citrus Heights, had contributed $183,626, about $5,000 less than the previous presidential cycle.

Nearly 16 percent of that came from area developer Kyriakos Tsakopoulos, who donated $28,500 to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee in March, records show.

Obama walked away with $21,128 from the Zip code, more than double his rival’s $10,027.

In the west Roseville Zip code of 95747, which includes Woodcreek and Sun City Roseville neighborhoods, residents had donated $78,327, more than $10,000 above what the Zip gave in the previous presidential election cycle.

Again, Romney towered over the other candidates, with $12,050 collected. But Obama led McCain $8,800 to $7,551.

In the less affluent 95678 Zip code, residents had contributed $63,871 by Aug. 31. That’s about $6,000 less than the total given during the entire 2004 cycle.

Effigy of Sarah Palin hanging by a noose creates uproar in West Hollywood

Posted by "Pat Buchanan, Jr." on October 29, 2008 at 02:37 PM

Does anyone know Sheriff Lee Baca? If so, you want to find out why an effigy hanging of Gov. Palin is allowed but one of Sen. Obama might constitute a “hate crime” investigation? I guess hate crimes against whites is allowed? Or maybe hate crimes just don’t apply to whites even thought one is allowed to hate whites. Can someone explain this to me?

Effigy of Sarah Palin hanging by a noose creates uproar in West Hollywood

A West Hollywood Halloween display showing a likeness of Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin hanging by a noose has caused a furor among some residents who reported it as a hate crime, authorities said Monday.

But Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials said the mannequin sporting a beehive hairdo, glasses and a red coat does not rise to the level of a hate crime because it was part of a Halloween display.

“I’m not defending this; I’m not criticizing it. It doesn’t rise to the level of hate crime,” said Steve Whitmore, spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, who said he went out to the house himself to look at the display this morning.

“Now, if there was a crime against bad taste . . . “

Sgt. Kristin Aloma of the Sheriff’s Department’s West Hollywood station said that since Sunday she had received five to 10 calls from residents offended by the display. Officials are monitoring the house to make sure the situation doesn’t get out of hand, she said.

West Hollywood Mayor Jeffrey Prang said although he recognizes residents’ right to free speech, he found the display problematic and felt it should be removed.

“While these residents have the legal right to display Senator John McCain and Governor Sarah Palin in effigy, I strongly oppose political speech that references violence—real or perceived,” Prang said in a statement. “I urge these residents to take down their display and find more constructive ways to express their opinion.”

Whitmore said that potential hate crimes are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. If the same display had been made of a Barack Obama like doll, for example, authorities would have to evaluate it independently, Whitmore said.

“That adds a whole other social, historical hate aspect to the display, and that is embedded in the consciousness of the country,” he said, adding he’s not sure whether it would be a hate crime. “It would be ill-advised of anybody to speculate on that.”

ChadMichael Morrisette, who lives in the house, told a local TV news crew that cars and buses have been stopping near his home and that people have been snapping photos of the Halloween display.

The home’s decorations also feature a doll of John McCain surrounded by decorative flames in the chimney, and other more typical Halloween items, such as skeletons and spider webs.

It's all about race

Posted by "Pat Buchanan, Jr." on October 19, 2008 at 04:12 PM

While Whites of this country are told not to talk about race, that race isn’t important, that you shouldn’t base any belief, hiring decision, or prejudice when it comes to race, we see yet another prominent Black American backing Obama at the voting booth over his own beliefs and poltical affiliation. And not just any Black American, one who served two Republican Presidents, inclulding the current one. That being Colin Powell. Today Former Secretary of State Colin Powell endorsed Senator Barack Obama, but says it wasn’t based on race. Earlier this year, Conservative talk show host Armstrong Willams and former US Republican House Leader JC Watts have also made statements that they would prefer Obama over McCain. But again, it’s not about race, well, at least according to their public statements. At least JC Watts had the guts to admit his recent thhoughts on who to vote for in this election are actually about race.

It’s a pretty sad day in America when gender and race preclude any form of common sense when choosing the next President of the United States. I guess the actions and statements of these leaders tells us that it’s ok to base your vote on race alone…well, maybe only if you’re a non-white American.

GOP platform backs off pet issues to help McCain

Posted by "Pat Buchanan, Jr." on August 27, 2008 at 10:22 PM

Here we go again. McCain’s moderate political views are showing up again, and not too soon. Only 5 days until the RNC Convention and McCain is already showing his true colors. For those of us on the Conservative side of the GOP isle, we knew this all along. The RNC caved on some very important issues so that McCain can feel comfortable with the platform. What about those of us who like the platform and are in this party because of it? If McCain doesn’t like the party platform than I suggest McCain find a different party. I’m not quite sure why he’s a Republican anyway. First George W. Bush let’s the Neocons take over the party and now McCain has pulled the GOP all the way to the middle of the isle. Just as the Democratic Party left many blue collar, pro-American voters over the past 40 year, I feel the GOP is leaving, or has left, many of us Conservatives out in the cold. I may have to find a new party.

“Republicans are putting John McCain’s campaign priorities above some of their pet issues, including drilling for oil in Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and denying citizenship to the U.S.-born children of illegal immigrants.

“The panel turned back a move to deny citizenship to U.S.-born children of illegal immigrants.”

“The platform acknowledges a human role in increased carbon emissions…”

“Committee member Trey Grayson of Kentucky called the document “the greenest platform we’ve ever had.”

Wow, I feel like this is the Democrat platform. I think my party has left me already…

Follow up to Post About Black Americans and Obama... Disentigration of the Black Family Unit

Posted by Aaron Park on June 15, 2008 at 12:58 PM

Steve Frank has an excellent blog. Today’s installment was about the disintegration of the Black Family Unit.

This is especially timely because Obama must be feeling the same vibe. Obama received more glowing media coverage talking about Black Fathers needing to engage – ummm… Barak… you voted time and again for government programs that prevent that.

Steve Frank Writes:

My friend Tom Del Beccaro has a great line. He asks if anybody can remember the last War that the Democrats supported? No, not the Gulf War, or Bosnia. No it was 1964 and the LBJ War on Poverty. At that time government listed 14% of the people in poverty. Now, after spending $7 trillion, we still have 14% in poverty. This is another War the Democrats lost. One of the provisions of the Democrats War on the Family, er, Poverty, is that single mothers get more money and services than a man and a wife. so, fathers were kicked out of homes so more tax dollars could come in. In 1964 25% of black homes had no father. After 44 years of the Democrats War on Poverty, close to 90% of black families have no father at home. Government has killed Fathers Day in black families—will anybody other than Juan Williams say something? What amazes me is that the black community gives blind support to those who have harmed them the most. Maybe it is the Stockholm Syndrome? Pass this around. Steve Frank’s Blog Post

Please note that Barak Obama used a church to deliver his Father’s day message – where’s the ACLU. I happen to agree with Barak’s comments – but Barak himself is a hypocrite because he has voted for welfare programs that split families or penalize a family for having one working parent. Nice.

Libertarian Barr announces run for president

Posted by "Pat Buchanan, Jr." on May 12, 2008 at 06:22 PM

This is great news to those of us on the right who can’t stand voting for McCain in any election!

“Former US congressman Bob Barr on Monday announced plans to run for president on the Libertarian Party’s ticket, in a move some analysts say could hurt Republican presumptive nominee John McCain.
“My name is Bob Barr and I’m a candidate for the presidency of the United States of America,” said the former Republican lawmaker, who played a key role in the congressional impeachment of former president Bill Clinton.

Barr said he was running because there was not “currently or anywhere on the horizon” any candidate who understood the principles of fiscal conservatism and basic principles on which he said America was founded.”

Ron Paul's forces quietly plot GOP convention revolt against McCain

Posted by "Pat Buchanan, Jr." on May 12, 2008 at 06:18 PM

This is a good article on some of the protest going on about McCain being the GOP nominee.

Virtually all the nation’s political attention in recent weeks has focused on the compelling state-by-state presidential nomination struggle between two Democrats and the potential for party-splitting strife over there.

But in the meantime, quietly, largely under the radar of most people, the forces of Rep. Ron Paul have been organizing across the country to stage an embarrassing public revolt against Sen. John McCain when Republicans gather for their national convention in Minnesota at the beginning of September.

Just take a look at recent Republican primary results, largely overlooked because McCain locked up the necessary 1,191 delegates long ago. In Indiana, McCain got 77% of the recent Republican primary vote, Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney, who’ve each long ago quit and endorsed McCain, still got 10% and 5% respectively, while Paul took 8%.

On the same May 6 in North Carolina, McCain received less than three-quarters of Republican votes (74%), while Huckabee got 12%, Paul 7% and Alan Keyes and No Preference took a total of 7%.

Pennsylvania was even slightly worse for the GOP’s presumptive nominee, who got only 73% to a combined 27% for Paul (16%) and Huckabee (11%).

As Politico.com’s Jonathan Martin noted recently, at least some of these results are temporary protest votes in meaningless primaries built on lingering affection for Huckabee and suspicion of McCain.

Two Birds For McCain

Posted by Ben Mavy on February 21, 2008 at 06:33 PM

With conservatives leaning toward voting Democrat or not voting at all in November, McCain desperately needed a story.

McCain’s friends at the times accomplished two feats with one story last night. Since McCain is not going to win over a single independent vote not already in his camp, he needed to somehow attract gullible conservatives and Bill Clinton lovers. By attacking McCain as a philanderer the times gave McCain both.

Slick Willy fans will now see a bit of the former president in McCain; and talk radio will attempt to rile up conservatives against the left wing media, hoping McCain will be the benefactor.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but my reaction to the story was “so what”. Had it been John Doolittle or another conservative I would have been disappointed or felt betrayed as I did when the Gingrich story broke. But McCain? I don’t think he could possibly disappoint me anymore than he already has. I have absolutely no faith in him.

Not too late...

Posted by Ben Mavy on February 06, 2008 at 10:52 AM

Good grief what has happened to our party? Any student of history will recognize the value of the two party system; this primary race demonstrates that the system is only a safe-guard and not a solution. The safeguard has likely failed us, leaving our country with the worst two candidates in the history of our nation.

We can still hold out hope that the remaining states realize McCain is an unacceptable candidate. This is not likely, but consider the delegate math. McCain needs roughly 37% of the remaining un-pledged delegates, this includes non-committed delegates from states that have already held their primaries. That’s a bigger chunk of the vote than he’s been getting in most contested states. We still have time for voters to wake up to the threat of a McCain candidacy. There is little hope for Romney or Huckabee to wrap up the vote prior to the convention, but it isn’t too late to take out McCain.

Should McCain win the nomination what is a principled conservative to do? McCain is a much bigger threat to conservatism than any liberal Democrat, but is it ethical to vote for somebody that is still an enemy to what you believe? Some conservative talking heads preach that we need to vote for McCain for no other reason than the courts, which only raises more concerns with McCain. I predict that should we be so unfortunate to see McCain elected, he will lecture us on why we need justices with moderate political views that believe the constitution is a living document.

The one compelling reason I’ve heard for voting for McCain is his age. If he were to bring on a true conservative as VP, we could hope his current diet of donuts and more donuts would relieve us of his leadership in short time. I’m predicting moderate Republican Governor Charlie Christ of Florida will be the VP nominee, so this won’t be an issue.

One last thought:
Placer County has a reputation of being a conservative area, but if we look at returns for the last few elections, this area is not actually very conservative. For example: in 2006 only 53% of Placer County voters supported parents having the right to know when a school takes their 12 year old daughter to have an abortion, Placer County’s only supervisor with a reputation of being conservative has endorsed a liberal candidate for congress, and yesterday McCain won here.

Perhaps the leftists in our party are correct: If the Republican Party is to remain viable, we need to accept the liberal ideas of the democrats and abandon the principles of Ronald Reagan.

Supporters of "Dr. Straight Talk" predictibly start slamming the "religious right"...

Posted by Aaron Park on February 05, 2008 at 10:04 PM

If you think this is special – right here at home, we have a member of the Republican Main Street partnership coming to CD4 to spread the same Gospel… Doug Ose. Ose is a McCain delegate and Ose is a leader in the MainStreet Partnership…

I wrote the below in response to a ‘courageous’ anonymous blogger calling themself “Veritas”. I decided to introduce him to “Lux et Veritas”... Latin for light and truth.

A blogger calling their self “Veritas” made a post entitled “Render Unto Caesar” where he lambasted the religious right, claimed James Dobson was clamoring for attention and that the Bible verse containing the Words “Render Unto Caesar” was an example of us right-wing Religious Republicans not following our own holy text.

Veritas also went on to write that a McCain victory will be a victory for the “thinking man”.

McCain has long been affiliated with the Republican Main Street Partnership – a group whose express purpose it is to exterminate the Religious right from the GOP. This may not be what their website says, but their history of attacking religious conservative candidates for office – including our own Chuck DeVore, speaks for itself.

McCain has forfeited his Conservative base because he has spent 8 years sticking it in President Bush’ eye making a raft of bad votes that have been outlined here in this and other blogs. McCain has relied on non-Republicans to win a Republican primary and more recently, Mike Huckabee to split the base away from Romney.

Predictably, tomorrow will start the clarion call to “go for the win”... all over again. We did that once for Arnold, now our deficit is worse than it was under Gray Davis and we have tons more liberal Democrat judges to boot. Some Republican!

(Arnold’s name is also all over the Mainstreet Partnership’s website.)

The arrogance of Veritas’ high-minded post where has purports that the anti-Republican stances of McCain (see also embryo destruction in the name of science, preventing infastructure in the name of the environment, attacking Religious Conservatives, voting against Tax Cuts…) are something that we are going to have to accept and vote to support because the Bible says “Render unto Caesar” is absurd.

Veritas does not even understand the context of the scripture his misquoted. This further proves my point – the critics of the Conservative right act like they are intellectually superior (victory for the thinking man)... but don’t even understand or read what they are criticizing.

Those familiar with the Bible remember that passage of scripture was about a pharisee trying to trip up Jesus showing him a coin with Caesar’s bust on it. The pharisee was attempting to trick Jesus into saying something that could have been trumped up into charges of revolution. Ultimately, the pharisees were able to get the Roman rulers to murder Jesus Christ on the cross on trumped up charges (but not over this passage as Jesus rightly said, pay your taxes and follow the law).

Saying that voting and “rendering unto Caesar” are the same thing is a fallacious analogy indicative of a lack of biblical knowledge. Not voting for President (McCain v Obama/Hillary) is not revolutionary, it is someone’s right and it is also legal.

I am not going to arrogantly try to render an ad-hoc psychoanalysis on Dr. Dobson either…

I can speak for myself – I will not lift a finger to help McCain because of his Arnold-esque hostility directed at us Conservatives, he has not ever tried to offer us any sort of olive branches or conciliation at all and worse, he is a leader of a group whose express purpose it is to attack other Republicans.

I learned my lesson after I (and the CRA) went to battle in the special election of 2005 in support of Arnold – only to get blamed along with other conservatives for its’ failure. Arnold has gone way left after that and now McCain wants to carry that mantle nationally for the GOP.

I hope John McCain can get enough Democrats to vote for himself, because he has demonstrated that he could care less about half (or more) of the GOP!

However – if McCain has an epiphany and decides to become a Republican again…

Do you think Romney is Done?

Posted by Aaron Park on January 09, 2008 at 10:34 PM

Wire reports have him pulling his ads off of the air in South Carolina and Florida. Could him slipping South Carolina be due to the success of the Mormon-bashing?

They also went on to say that Romney was doing “Earned Media” type events. Is this a business decision?

Romney needs to win Michigan in order to fend off the boo-birds.

The wild card is that the pundits are talking openly about how the independent voters in New Hampshire broke hard for McCain. In Michigan, they can vote in either primary as well.

McScam will benefit because Hildabeast will be the only Dem on the ballot there. Romney is in the lead marginally, too bad his father (former Governor) is not alive to hit the trail.

The chilling effect for me personally has been the Mormon-bashing and the seeming effectiveness of it.

Bottom line: I will vote for Rudy before I’d ever vote for McScam. McCain went psycho after winning NH in 2000… and he still looks the part.

Is McCain an Acceptable Candidate?

Posted by Ben Mavy on January 09, 2008 at 02:26 PM

The number one issue for Republicans in this race should be judges, based on John McCain’s past and current positions Republicans CANNOT trust him:

Global Warming, Affirmative Action, the International Criminal Court, Guantanomo, Tax-cuts, McCain-Feingold, the Gang of 14, Amnesty(or Z-Visa if you don’t like that word), Christian leaders are “agents of intolerance”. McCain has not admitted to being wrong on any of these issues, with the exception of an apology to Christians for attacking Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson as “agents of intolerance.” I’m sure the apology was as sincere as any of his other straight talk.

As a person who believes in repentance and forgiveness I should comment on why these issues prevent me from EVER supporting John McCain. I believe that a man can repent and be forgiven, but that doesn’t exempt him from facing consequences.

I will not vote for someone who has cheated on their wife, period. McCain cheated on his wife with a beautiful 25 year old with enough family money to launch his political career.

Believe what you want about his supposed straight talk. I am grateful to him for his service to our country, but I would never vote for him.

First Insanity of the New Year - AP says Romney fighting for political life

This incredibly biased AP story says if Romney loses (finishes out of first) in New Hampshire (even though he’d still get delegates…) that he would be finished.

Please note that this story references a CNN/Zogby poll that has Romney -5 to McCain.

I have also seen a Rasmussen poll with Romney at +1. (posted below by…)

The person fighting for their political life is McCain. McCain has to win NH to have a chance…

It is interesting to note that when I looked at the other candidates drop down menu – I got the complete picture of where I stand relative to the others…

Hunter #1 at 89% Match (Hunter was always my favorite, but he can’t get any traction…)
Huck 76%
Romney 74% – (I support Romney because he can raise the money)

Thompson 71%
Rudy 70% (Are you kidding me?)
McScam 65%
Ron Paul 54% – look close here, the disparity is Ron’s Libertarian views.

ABR Caucus forming

Posted by Aaron Park on January 06, 2008 at 10:19 AM

People who are Mormon right now should rightfully be wondering if everyone hates them.

Romney’s difficulties lately have as much to do with the effectiveness of his campaign as they do with the withering Mormon-bashing by the puritans.

However – like Doolittle here locally, the opportunists have decided to rail on his religion as well. This religion-baiting is a slippery slope that threatens the ability of anyone of any faith being able to run.

As evidenced by the below linked article – the other GOP candidates are ganging up on Romney. Hence the term ABR caucus, it seems that the other GOP candidates for President are tired of getting hammered with negative ads.

It is about dammed time we had a GOP candidate willing to piss people off and tell the truth about his opponents.

Hopefully someday soon, squishy Republicans that go along to get along will be held accountable. Let’s start with a local congressman who likes to grab our guns and supported McCain’s amnesty bill…

Last night’s debate turned into a Romney fry… will this backfire? I don’t know, Tuesday will probably yield a McCain victory as a result unless the NH voters decide to see through the gang-up. If Romney finishes 2nd in NH… it will be a victory for him as the Mormon-bashing and running 5 vs 1 could only knock him down one place.

For the record – I am not a Mormon and the Mormon bashing really made me mad. I will debate the merits of the religion any day – but it does not apply to the political arena.

The aforementioned article about the Romney-fry debate is linked HERE

UNH: McCain over Romney by 6, Dem race tied

Posted by "Pat Buchanan, Jr." on January 05, 2008 at 11:29 PM

By James Pindell January 5, 2008 06:06 PM

MANCHESTER, N.H. —A new CNN/WMUR poll conducted by the University of New Hampshire shows the Democratic race tied and John McCain leading Mitt Romney.

The UNH poll, conducted entirely after the outcome of the Iowa Caucuses, is the gold standard of polls in the Granite State. It predicted the exact numbers of the 2000 and 2004 primaries and general elections.

Democrats
Obama 33
Clinton 33
Edwards 20
Richardson 4

Republicans
McCain 33
Romney 27
Giuliani 14
Huckabee 11

The Sword-Thrusters are coming out in force... Romney is rolling.

Posted by Aaron Park on January 05, 2008 at 09:07 PM

Citizens for Life endorses Fred Thompson as his campaign is sliding into the abyss.

This is actually a fatal blow for Huckabee who is supposed to be the choice of the puritans.

Romney has been beaten up for being a Mormon and if you read Massachusetts papers, they have criticized Romney for being a closet Conservative for years.

Thompson is dust, if McCain can not hold onto the 5% lead he has fallen to in NH, he is dust.

It is time for the Thompson supporters to choose Huckabee or Romney. Romney is way more electable, because he can raise the money to beat Obama. (or Hildabeast)

Romney finished 2nd in Iowa and 1st in Wyoming.

He will finish 1st or 2nd in New Hampshire… this is called momentum even after weeks of Mormon-bashing.

Click on this POST to get links a blog and MSNBC to keep up on the polls.

I am also looking for some fresh polling data on Michigan Nevada and Florida. This is heating up in a hurry and the Wyoming results have Huck and Romney in a delegate dead heat.

Why is Rudy laying so low? Anyone want to take a guess???

Huckabee has his hands full! 4th in NH Romney 2nd in NH and Gaining...

Posted by Aaron Park on January 05, 2008 at 08:23 PM

AND ROMNEY WINS 8 of 12 Delegates in Wyoming!

Updated Story here story

Remember as well – Huck got 20 Delegates in Iowa and Romney got 17.

McCain could be hitting the end of his rope in NH – he has to win NH or he is toast.

Where’s Rudy? Who cares…

Update – this is a LINK to Real Clear politics. It shows that Romney led New Hampshire for several weeks until a recent surge my McCain. This could be due to the fact that McScam pulled some money out of his - and started reminding NH voters that they voted for him in 2008.

And – I think the religion baiting took a toll on Romney. Don’t look now, but the religion baiting is backfiring on Doolittle’s opponents and I think it will backfire against Romney’s as well.

Update from New Hampshire

Posted by "Pat Buchanan, Jr." on January 05, 2008 at 07:06 PM

In my first report, we see some interesting things around NH.

First, I see a ton more Dem signs than GOP, which was shocking for me. This used to be such a great Red State. Obama’s people seem really organized. Hillary has more people on the ground walking, mainly middle aged women with clipped hair and mean faces. Anyone listen to Savage? :) I saw the Edwards rally in downtown Portsmouth. Why wasn’t I at a GOP event? Well you see, most of the media coverage is around the Dems and the GOP is absolutely horrible about communicating. I couldn’t find out much about any event except for Huckabee. Thompson didn’t even arrive until late morning so he’s given up and Romney had a post debate rally in a sports bar, alcohol optional.

Second, I’m in a hotel filled with Clinton and Edwards campaign people. Hill and John might actually be a few rooms down from me. God help me!!! It feels like I’m surrounded by cult people.

Word on the street is that McCain will do well here on Tuesday, which I guess I can’t disagree with, but I see almost no signage or people for him. Maybe he already has entrenched support? I can see Ron Paul doing well but I don’t think he’s polling well, but we’ll see on Wednesday, and I know he’ll do better than the media thinks he will do.

It’s cold here but beats the storm passing through Cali right now.

Fred Thompson announced the endorsement of Right to Life of Wyoming.

“We’re proud to endorse Senator Thompson for president because he has a long track record of supporting pro-life principles,” stated Steven Ertelt, President of Right to Life of Wyoming. “Senator Thompson had a 100% pro-life voting record during his tenure in Congress. Today, he supports overturning the Roe v Wade decision which allowed for unlimited abortions, he opposes euthanasia, and he opposes forcing taxpayers to fund scientific research that requires the destruction of human life.”

Right to Life of Wyoming (RTLW) is the state affiliate of the National Right to Life Committee which has endorsed Senator Thompson for President, along with 13 other state affiliates.

“I’m blessed and honored to have the endorsement of the Right to Life of Wyoming for President of the United States,” said Senator Thompson. “Thirteen right to life organizations from coast to coast have voted to endorse my candidacy, and more likely will, because they know I have stood with them yesterday, I stand with them today, and will stand with them tomorrow. They know I have the ability to win this election. They know I believe in the sanctity of life and as President I will do all that I can to do to protect life.”

Fred Thompson is pro-life. He believes in the sanctity of human life and that every life is worthy of respect. He had a 100% pro-life voting record in the Senate and believes Roe v. Wade was a bad decision that ought to be overturned. He consistently opposed federal funding to promote or pay for abortion and supported the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act, the Child Custody Protection Act, and President Reagan’s Mexico City policy. While Fred Thompson supports adult stem cell research, he opposes embryonic stem cell research. He also opposes human cloning.

Hillary Booed at NH Democratic Party Dinner

Posted by "Pat Buchanan, Jr." on January 04, 2008 at 09:28 PM

You gotta love this! :)

“If the New Hampshire Democratic Party’s 100 Club dinner is any bell weather – Barack Obama will handily win here. When Obama, the dinner’s last speaker, took the stage the crowd surged forward chanting “O-bam-a” and “Fired Up, Ready to Go!” So many people pressed toward the stage that an announcer asked people to “please take their seats for safety concerns.”

By comparison Hillary was twice booed. The first time was when she said she has always and will continue to work for “change for you. The audience, particularly from Obama supporters (they were waving Obama signs) let out a noise that sounded like a thousand people collectively groaning. The second time came a few minutes later when Clinton said: “The there are two big questions for voters in New Hampshire. One is: who will be ready to lead from day one? The second,” and here Clinton was forced to pause as boos from the crowd mixed with cheers from her own supporters. “Is who can we nominate who will go the distance against the Republicans?”

The dinner held in the Hampshire Dome in Milford is the largest political dinner in New Hampshire history, Republican or Democrat. More than 3,000 people attended.”

California will host the Super Tuesday debates on January 30th at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley. The Primary vote will be held on February 5th. Candidates invited must have finished in the top 4 spots of the early Primary States voting so this will be a trimmed down event. Unfortunately, CNN wil be hosting this debate so get ready for some more strange behavior from the audience.

Mitt's Hour of Power

PJB gives some conservative street cred to Mitt Romney’s “Mormon speech” the other night. I still have reservations about a guy who only found the pro-life issue in 2005.

Bush refuses to rule out Iran strike

Perot voters still looking for a candidate

Posted by "Pat Buchanan, Jr." on November 25, 2007 at 08:41 PM

This is why the GOP needs to put in a good conservative. A third party run will steal Republican votes in the general election and Hillary will be Prez for certain. We cannot afford this, it’s too high a price.

“Last week, CNN’s Lou Dobbs stirred speculation that he might be the next Ross Perot — and reminded the political world that Perot’s potent constituency is still looking for a presidential candidate to back.”

America hates Hillary Clinton and Co

“Mrs Clinton might be the frontrunner in the polls, but almost everywhere we went people questioned her candidacy. Many stated bluntly that they did not want a woman in charge. ‘It’s a man’s world,’ said Hugh Laflin, 62, a Kansas truck driver. ”’Would a Middle East sheikh talk to a lady president?’”

“While we found many people who hated Mrs Clinton, those who loved her were few and far between.”

Clinton stacks Presidential debate audience with plants

Student describes how she became a Clinton plant

GRINNELL, Iowa (CNN)—“The college student who was told what question to ask at one of New York Sen. Hillary Clinton’s campaign events said “voters have the right to know what happened” and she wasn’t the only one who was planted.”

In an exclusive on-camera interview with CNN, Muriel Gallo-Chasanoff, a 19-year-old sophomore at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa, said giving anyone specific questions to ask is “dishonest,” and the whole incident has given her a negative outlook on politics.

Gallo-Chasanoff said she wasn’t the only person given a question.

“After the event,” she said, “I heard another man … talking about the question he asked, and he said that the campaign had asked him to ask that question.”

Ex-Publisher Says News Corp. Official Wanted Her to Lie to Protect Giuliani

Posted by "Pat Buchanan, Jr." on November 13, 2007 at 07:50 PM

“Judith Regan, the book publisher who was fired by the News Corporation last year, asserts in a lawsuit filed today that a senior executive at the media conglomerate encouraged her to mislead federal investigators about her relationship with Bernard B. Kerik during his bid to become homeland security secretary in late 2004.”

“Ms. Regan had an affair with Mr. Kerik, who is married, beginning in the spring of 2001, when her imprint, Regan Books, began work on his memoir, “The Lost Son.” In December 2004, after the relationship had ended and shortly after Mr. Kerik’s homeland security nomination fell apart, newspapers reported that the two had carried on the affair at an apartment near Ground Zero that had been donated as a respite for rescue and recovery workers.”

I thought Gulliani was tough on the Mob while NYC Mayor?

Posted by "Pat Buchanan, Jr." on November 08, 2007 at 06:33 PM

NEW YORK—Bernard Kerik was indicted on federal charges Thursday, sources told WNBC.com.

“Kerik will be arraigned on criminal charges Friday at noon before Judge George Yanthis in White Plains Federal Court.

But his past troubles never seemed far behind. Kerik had committed to work as a national security adviser in Guyana and Trinidad, but had to pull out. The president of Guyana said he did not want either country “tainted” by the corruption allegations in the U.S.

And then there was the failed Homeland Security nomination. Democrats who opposed the nomination focused on Kerik’s recent windfall from exercising stock options in a stun-gun company that did business with the department. His take: $6.2 million.

Kerik sought to spare the White House and Giuliani further shame by withdrawing his name. But by then, state investigators were already aware of the expensive renovations done to his Bronx apartment in 1999, including built-in cabinets and a rotunda with a marble entryway. They alleged the work was paid for by Mafia-connected builders who sought his help winning city contracts.

Limbaugh Spins Reid's Letter Into Charity Gold

“Petty bickering about patriotism and Who Loves Our Troops More has never been seen as a financial growth industry, but there’s no stopping American capitalism. This is why a perfunctory bit of political grandstanding, committed to U.S. Senate letterhead this month, became worth a reported $4.2 million yesterday, instantly becoming one of the most valuable printed documents of the modern era.”

“The letter in question is an Oct. 2 two-pager from Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) to Clear Channel Communications CEO Mark Mays lambasting the syndicate’s Rush Limbaugh, who had recently criticized U.S. troops who were against the war in Iraq.”

“Forty-one Democratic senators signed the thing, put it in the mail and, really, that should have been the end.”

What I cannot understand is that Hillary’s handlers actually allowed her to sign this letter. You would think she was too smart for this but obviously not. When I first heard about this letter and its content I figured that they actually had Rush dead to right, but it was quite the opposite. This will go down in history as one of the dumbest political stunts ever!

Check back shortly to see the actual signed letter, who all signed it and find out how Harry Reid had the gull to try and spin this to his favor…you won’t believe it.

Poll finds Thompson appeals to churchgoers

Posted by "Pat Buchanan, Jr." on October 20, 2007 at 12:30 PM

“Thompson emphasized his support for conservative judges and his ‘100 percent pro-life voting record’ as part of his none too subtle message that he is a ‘consistent conservative.’”

This is great news for the GOP. We can’t afford to lose the White House or allow some “acceptable alterative” to run against Hillary. We need to beat her with someone we can respect as President and can lead us in these perilous times.

“If the GOP nominates an abortion rights supporter and has the issue ‘effectively taken off the table,’ many religious Christian voters may not vote Republican in 2008.”

An unlikely treasure-trove of donors for Clinton

“Dishwashers, waiters and others whose jobs and dilapidated home addresses seem to make them unpromising targets for political fundraisers are pouring $1,000 and $2,000 contributions into Clinton’s campaign treasury. In April, a single fundraiser in an area long known for its gritty urban poverty yielded a whopping $380,000.”

Ah, more political corruption from a Clinton politician. Is anyone really surprised? Supposedly, we’re to believe Hillary Rodham is an effective fund raiser, even within the poorest communities in the USA.

Here’s a great reason for the people who put the bumper sticker “Another Democrat voter in Placer County” on their cars to vote for Hillary Rodham…”if Clinton becomes president, she will move quickly to reunite families and help illegal residents move toward citizenship. As New York’s junior senator, Clinton has expressed support for immigrants and greater family reunification.”

Well, isn’t that special?!

New Hampshire Presidential Primary to be held in 2 months?

Posted by "Pat Buchanan, Jr." on October 16, 2007 at 10:25 PM

Yes that’s right. The Iowa Caucus is Jan. 14 and Michigan’s is on the 15th, but if Michigan Dems move that date up to compete for the limelight, NH would jump them both by setting a December date. This is something I figured would happen several years ago when California got the bright idea of moving up the primary election 4 months. I’m all about tradition and having the great state of New Hampshire set the tone for the Republican Primary was something I always liked. After all, I’d rather have the people in New Hampshire decide the GOP candidate rather than California; they’ve done a great job in the past.

Thompson Says He's the Real Conservative

Posted by "Pat Buchanan, Jr." on October 16, 2007 at 09:50 PM

By LIZ SIDOTI – AP

WASHINGTON – Republican presidential contender Fred Thompson criticized GOP rival Rudy Giuliani on Monday, likening him to a liberal and questioning the former New York mayor’s loyalty to the GOP.

“Some think the way to beat the Democrats in November is to be more like them. I could not disagree more,” the one-time Tennessee senator says in remarks he was delivering to the Conservative Party of New York. “I believe that conservatives beat liberals only when we challenge their outdated positions, not embrace them. This is not a time for philosophical flexibility, it is a time to stand up for what we believe in.”

Thompson doesn’t mention Giuliani in excerpts made available to The Associated Press, but he’s clearly trying to draw a contrast with the rival leads in national Republican polls. Unlike Thompson, Giuliani backs abortion and gay rights. And, the ex-mayor’s central argument for Republicans to nominate him is that he has the best chance to win in the general election.

Thompson was more direct in an interview on Fox News Channel before the speech.

“I don’t think that the mayor has ever claimed to be a conservative,” he said before rattling off Giuliani’s history.

He noted that Giuliani, who ran as a Republican, sought and won the Liberal Party’s endorsement in his first mayoral race in 1989, and that as mayor, he broke from the GOP and endorsed Democratic Gov. Mario Cuomo in an unsuccessful race for a fourth term.

“So I don’t know that he’s ever claimed to be anything else,” Thompson said, suggesting Giuliani was more a liberal than a conservative.

In response, Giuliani spokeswoman Katie Levinson said: “Fred Thompson can talk about labels all he wants, but labels are meaningless without results. Mayor Giuliani has done more than just talk like a conservative, he’s governed like one and has the record to prove it.”

Earlier, Giuliani’s campaign arranged for several deputy mayors who served in his administrations to hold a news conference in Times Square to promote his success in reducing crime, overhauling welfare and cutting taxes. The message – Giuliani has showed results the conservative way – was meant to contrast with Thompson, who lacks executive experience.

“Some candidates talk the talk about Republican principles. Others actually have a proven track record of governing according to Republican principles,” said Randy Mastro, a deputy mayor in Giuliani’s first term.

With voting beginning in under three months, Thompson is trying to win the support of conservatives who are pivotal in GOP primaries.

“With me, what you see is what you get. I was a proud conservative yesterday, I remain one today, and I will be one tomorrow,” Thompson says in the speech.

He touts his eight-year Senate tenure and boasts of working to further the conservative causes of smaller government, lower taxes, less regulation and conservative judges.

In fact, while he was seen as a reliably conservative vote in the Senate, he sometimes strayed from the party line and focused more on investigating than legislating.

Giuliani, for his part, was once a Democrat, voting for Democratic presidential nominee George McGovern in 1972. In his own two terms as mayor, Giuliani staunchly supported abortion rights, gay rights and gun control – and also was left-of-center on a host of other issues.

Thompson’s address to the Conservative Party will be his first public event since participating in his first presidential debate in Michigan last Tuesday. He was scheduled to be in New Hampshire late last week for a fundraising breakfast for Manchester Mayor Frank Guinta, but he canceled the trip. Aides say he also plans stops this week in Washington, Georgia and Florida.

The Donald: Time for Bush to go into hiding

The Donald: Time for Bush to go into hiding

I don’t agree that Bush is the worst president in history, as The Donald does in this article, but I do believe the Republican nominee, if they want to be elected, needs to either have a very tight Iraq war exit strategy, or needs to promise a full pull out. We’re on the verge of not only losing the White House, but further losing both Houses of Congress.

No matter your thoughts on the war, we’re fighting people who will never like us and we’re helping people who have never experienced freedom. With freedom comes responsibility and I would argue people in the US don’t even have enough sense or responsibility to be truly free. Many Americans who love freedom and are very patriotic feel losing more American lives to experiment with giving freedom to the Middle East may not be worth it now. If the president were really serious about the war on terror and national security, he would seal up the borders immediately and beef up the budget for border security. His actions don’t reflect this.

Giuliani Claims An Evolution On Gun Rights

“Glossing over the less appealing line items on his gun control resume, ex-NYC mayor Rudy Giuliani presented himself as sympathetic to the aims of the National Rifle Association and pledged, as president, to protect gun rights.”

Don’t believe the campaign machine, Rudy is no friend of gun owners and no Friend of the NRA. It’s important voters know who the real Rudy is and he’s a big gun grabber. We need to support and elect a good candidate who is truly behind the Second Amendment.
