OTT: McClintock Urges Cutting Off All Federal Aid to Sanctuary Cities
Posted by Aaron Park on September 03, 2008 at 11:25 AM
Blogger’s Note – The interesting thing is that the Brown campaign has called leading Border advocates racists, avoiding addressing the issue alltogether. Exception: Brown endorsed the massive proposed anmesty bill from a few years ago that public outcry killed. Closing time, Charlie – what are you going to do?
State Sen. Tom McClintock spoke to a gathering of Minutemen from the Sacramento region on the steps of the State Capitol Tuesday.
In town for their annual ‘Lobby Day,’ the Minutemen make visits to lawmakers to raise awareness on issues stemming from illegal immigration. This year, one of the topics is crimes caused by illegal aliens. One high-profiled example is the murder case involving Edwin Ramos, a native of El Salvador who is charged with three counts of murder. Tony Bologna and his two sons, Michael and Matthew, who were on the way back from a family gathering, when they were brutally murdered following a traffic incident with Ramos in San Francisco’s Excelsior district.
According to news accounts in the San Francisco Chronicle, “San Francisco’s political establishment has long prided itself on providing a haven for illegal immigrants. Mayor Gavin Newsom even launched a taxpayer-funded $83,000 ” public awareness campaign” earlier this year assuring illegal immigrants that the “sanctuary city” by the bay was in their court. And indeed it is. Under the city’s 1989 voter-approved sanctuary ordinance, police officers and other city employees are prohibited from inquiring into immigration status. In addition, the city will not direct municipal funds or employees towards assisting federal immigration enforcement, unless such assistance is required by federal or state law or a warrant.”
In his speech Tuesday, Sen. McClintock suggested that all federal aid to so-called “sanctuary cities” be cut off beginning with the city and county of San Francisco. “A local government that actively works to undermine our nation’s security and sovereignty has no claim to our nation’s resources and support.”
“The Minutemen have become our nation’s neighborhood watch, and I want to commend all of the law abiding, concerned Americans who have volunteered their own time and their own resources at enormous personal risk in order to assist the border patrol by peacefully reporting illegal incursions of our border,” McClintock said.
The following are the remarks delivered by Sen. Tom McClintock.
The Minutemen have become our nation’s neighborhood watch, and I want to commend all of the law abiding, concerned Americans who have volunteered their own time and their own resources at enormous personal risk in order to assist the border patrol by peacefully reporting illegal incursions of our border.
Our nation was built upon LEGAL immigration – the orderly process by which immigrants come to our country in order to become Americans – and they do so by acquiring a common language, a common culture, and a common appreciation of American constitutional principles and American legal traditions.
Illegal immigration undermines that process of legal immigration that makes our nation of immigrants possible.
We should never forget that there are hundreds of thousands of legal immigrants who, right now, are obeying our laws, waiting in line and doing everything our nation asks of them to do, while millions of illegal immigrants cut in line in front of them.
Last year, together, we defeated the amnesty bill in Congress that would have legalized and legitimized the presence of up to 20 million illegal aliens within our borders. It would have excused them from obeying the same laws as every legal immigrant who has respected our nation’s sovereignty.
We fought the leadership of both parties in Congress and we won.
Now, it is time to press for enforcement of our existing laws.
There is nothing radical to insist that we do so. Every other nation in the world has immigration laws. The only difference is that every other nation in the world actually nforces them.
The supporters of last year’s amnesty bill never were able to explain what exactly is wrong with our current immigration laws – except that they’re not being enforced.
Indeed, a prerequisite for any future immigration laws is first to demonstrate a concerted determination to enforce our current ones.
We can start by expediting completion of the 700 miles of the border fence that Congress authorized last year, and that the Bush administration has dawdled on ever since. According to Congressman Duncan Hunter, who coauthored the “Secure Fence Act,” just ten miles of security fencing in San Diego reduced that county’s crime rate dramatically. Imagine what 700 miles would do.
Second, hundreds of armed incursions by Mexican military units in support of drug runners have been documented in recent years and we need to beef up our military presence on the border. Even the limited deployment of a few hundred unarmed National Guard troops last year had a significant impact on those sections that they patrolled.
Third, the government must at least demonstrate a determined, sustained effort to deport those illegal aliens it actually encounters through law enforcement or social service agencies. No immigration law is going to be taken seriously if illegal aliens can receive government-funded benefits while the government cheerfully ignores the fact that they’re not legally entitled to be here in the first place.
Fourth, sanctions against employers who knowingly hire illegal immigrants need to be just as rigorously enforced as all of our other labor laws. There is no excuse for those who would shortchange American citizens and legal immigrants in order to employ those who violate our nation’s sovereignty.
If our state and federal labor agencies can audit every scrap of employment minutia down to lunch and bathroom breaks, they should certainly be able to determine the legal residency requirements that were supposed to be the cornerstone of the 1986 immigration act.
Fifth, we should cut off all federal aid to so-called “sanctuary cities” beginning with the city and county of San Francisco. A local government that actively works to undermine our nation’s security and sovereignty has no claim to our nation’s resources and support.
These modest steps toward enforcing existing law would not only stop the immediate demand on services that is overwhelming our schools, our hospitals and our prisons, it would also produce the voluntary departure of that portion of the illegal population drawn here by public handouts and the underground economy.
Citizenship should be reserved for those who obey our laws – starting with our immigration laws – as hundreds of thousands of legal immigrants are doing right now to fulfill their dream of becoming loyal Americans.
And together, these steps – which require nothing more than the faithful enforcement of existing law—would preserve our nation as a melting pot for many future generations of legal immigrants from around the world who sincerely seek to become Americans and “to secure the blessings of liberty” to themselves and their posterity.
Congressman Tom Tancredo Endorses McClintock

Tancredo: “I was there” when Doug Ose Voted to give Amnesty to Illegal Aliens
Congressman Tom Tancredo, the founder and former chairman of the bipartisan House Immigration Reform Caucus, has endorsed Tom McClintock for Congress and urged voters not to be fooled by Doug Ose’s claims that he is tough on illegal immigration.
“I was there when liberal congressman Doug Ose twice voted to give amnesty to illegal aliens,” Tancredo said. “He never joined our Immigration Reform Caucus and was never a reliable vote on border control, sanctuary cities or federal requirements for a secure ID.”
“Doug Ose can spend 3 million dollars trying to hide his votes, but it doesn’t change the truth,” Tancredo said. “Don’t be fooled by Doug Ose’s claims. His voting record tells the real story. When he voted to protect ‘sanctuary cities’ from punishment for violating the law and harboring illegal aliens, he showed his true colors.”
The vast majority of the public support measures to improve the enforcement of our existing immigration laws, and overwhelmingly oppose granting amnesty to illegal aliens. Tancredo is steadfastly opposed to any form of amnesty, and has worked to prevent the passage of any legislation that would provide a path to citizenship to illegal aliens, or any expansion of guest worker programs.
A school teacher by trade; Tancredo taught for several years at Drake Junior High before serving in the Colorado Legislature. He worked at the Department of Education for former presidents Reagan and Bush. Tancredo is a member of both the House Foreign Affairs and Natural Resources Committees and is retiring from Congress after the current term.
“Congressman Tom Tancredo was there when Doug Ose voted to give social security benefits to illegal aliens,” said Stan Devereux, spokesman for McClintock. “As a member of Congress, Tom McClintock will carry on Tom Tancredo’s fight against illegal immigration.”

Seis De Mayo History Lesson (Cinco +1 = Seis) / Doug Ose's Immigration Record
Posted by Aaron Park on May 06, 2008 at 01:38 PM
On May 5, 1862, the Mexicans were triumphant over the Emporer Maximillian and the French. The French surrendered and withdrew. After a series of Revolutions, the French decided that they were going to colonize Mexico. It didn’t last very long – and while Mexico could not decide what Government they wanted – they knew it wasn’t the French.
Mexico is one of a few countries with a National holiday dedicated to a Military Defeat of the French. The interesting irony is that I learned Mexican History almost 100% in Spanish at Fresno State when I attended class there.
It dovetails well with Doug Ose and his votes against English Only. Even in the early 1990’s as a student, I had to listen to professors talk about the “reconquista”. (That refers to the 1848 treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo which should be a national holiday, where 50% of Mexico’s territory was ceded to the US after Mexico invaded Texas and we defeated them)
Anyhow – Ose was apparently ignorant of history or was enjoying the Good Life in Washington DC wasting our money. HR 3722, Roll Call #182, May 2004 – Limit Medical care for illegal aliens only to medical emergencies – Ose Voted No. So, Doug Ose voted to provide Government health care (see also medicare) to illegal aliens. When you couple this with Ose’s voting against repealing the practice of giving Social Security to Illegal Aliens – you see a pattern… wasting our money on earmarks and non-citizens.
Just like the French plundered Mexico in the late 1850’s and did nothing for the Mexican People… Doug Ose consistently voted to take our tax dollars and spend them coddling future Democrat voters. 150 years hence, Doug Ose took the place of the French and now we are talking about the American People.
In March 2002 – HR 1885 Roll Call #53, Doug Ose Voted Yes to extend Immigration Residency for Illegal Aliens, otherwise known as amnesty.
In July 2003 – H amdt. 246 to HR 1950, Roll Call #367 – Ose Voted Against Imposing Major Restrictions on the use of consular issued ID cards. Apparently, Ose thought it was OK to drop $20 for a Mexican ID to use to gain entry into the U.S.
As Ose voted repeatedly to throw the door wide open (his claims about the fence be dammed) to America without rules – it brings me back to the racists I was subjected to in College who railed about the need for the Reconquista. As a young 20-something College Student, I listened to a bunch of folks rant and rave in Spanish becuase they didn’t want to say what they were yelling in English.
In 1862, the Mexican people knew what they needed to do with the Emporer and his club. 140 some years later, they have their eyes on the Southwestern US if you ask some.
Apparently, Doug Ose was asleep at the switch when the reconquista started in 1986, when Dan Lungren and others created the first amnesty. Maybe worse, Ose felt the need to open the border wide open becuase he got weak at the knees when Illegal Immigration activists used the “R” word.
It makes the case for in Oct 2001 – HAmdt. 378 to HR 3061, Roll Call #380 – when Ose voted against repealing federal funding to pay for translators for non-English speaking federal contractors. Apparently, Ose understood in 2001 that translators would be necessary to deal with the consequences of votes that he was going to make.
The Story of Cinco de Mayo ends with Benito Juarez emerging victorious. Juarez became the first Native American President of a Country in World History as a result.
On May 8, 1862 – Juarez allowed the French safe passage out of Mexico with one exception. Emporer Maximillian was marched up to the top of a hill in Mexico City and was shot by Juarez in front of a very large crowd.
Blogger’s Note – I took a break from the regularly scheduled exposure of Ose’s Millionaire Liberal Voting Record to catch up on other politics in the Placer Region. If anyone has any news about Bruce Kranz in particular, please let me know.
Dan Logue to do Bus Tour with Minutemen...

That’s correct – the 3rd AD front-runner is hitting the road with Chris Simcox… take a look at this.
Minutemen co-founder to address area residents on illegal immigration

One of the leading proponents of a border fence and other measures to crack down on illegal immigration will be speaking next week in Nevada City as part of the “Secure Our Borders” campaign tour.
Chris Simcox is the co-founder of the Minutemen Civil Defense Corps, an organization that has attracted national attention – and some criticism – for organizing volunteers to patrol the southwestern U.S. border and orchestrating a campaign to force the federal government to get tougher on illegal immigration.
Third Assembly District candidate Dan Logue is bringing Simcox to the area for a three-day tour that starts at 11:30 a.m. May 7 at Trolley Junction restaurant, 400 Railroad Ave., Nevada City. The event is open to the pubic, but lunch costs $12 at the restaurant.
California senator and 4th Congressional District candidate Tom McClintock is joining the tour.
After the Nevada City stop, Simcox is scheduled to speak in Susanville, Quincy, Oroville and Loma Rica in Yuba County, said Logue, a Yuba County supervisor and Realtor in Marysville.
Sue Horne, a Nevada County supervisor and Logue’s opponent in the June 3 Republican primary, did not return a call Tuesday seeking comment on the tour.
Relatively few Mexican immigrants reside in western Nevada County – about 2,000, according to one church that has an outreach program. Nevertheless, illegal immigration is the top issue in the larger district, Logue said Tuesday.
“This is crippling the economic future of California,” Logue said. “They (illegal immigrants) have to play by the same rules and abide by the laws of the land that have been ignored.”
Logue supports a border fence, making proficiency in English a requirement of citizenship, legislation to bar illegal immigrants from attending public schools and “turning off the immigrant magnet.”
The Republican candidate said he believes the lure of free health care and public education costs the state millions that it no longer can afford, and that “sanctuary cities” like San Francisco and Los Angeles need to be denied federal funding.
Logue’s positions mirror those of Simcox, a lightning rod in the immigration wars who has been interviewed by CNN, MSNBC, FOX News, PBS, USA Today and countless right-wing radio talk show hosts.
Simcox, 46, is a former Los Angeles kindergarten teacher who moved in 2003 to southern Arizona, where he bought the Tombstone Tumbleweed and launched the movement that has made him a hero to some and an enemy to others.
Organizations including the Southern Poverty Law Center and the National Council of La Raza have accused Simcox of “hate-mongering.”
Simcox was not available to be interviewed on Tuesday, according to a representative from the Minutemen organization.

Dan Logue gets hit by Chico News and Review for (GASP) Secure our Borders!

Immigration. It’s a hot topic that has fallen out of the mainstream news of late, but is still on people’s minds—just check out the signs on the road for State Assembly hopeful Dan Logue, with “Secure Our Borders!” in large type below his name (as if a state assemblyman has any say in the matter).
The Chico News and Review led off a movie review with that screed. Nice to know people are noticing the leader in the 3rd AD race!
Is McCain an Acceptable Candidate?
Posted by Ben Mavy on January 09, 2008 at 02:26 PM
The number one issue for Republicans in this race should be judges, based on John McCain’s past and current positions Republicans CANNOT trust him:
Global Warming, Affirmative Action, the International Criminal Court, Guantanomo, Tax-cuts, McCain-Feingold, the Gang of 14, Amnesty(or Z-Visa if you don’t like that word), Christian leaders are “agents of intolerance”. McCain has not admitted to being wrong on any of these issues, with the exception of an apology to Christians for attacking Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson as “agents of intolerance.” I’m sure the apology was as sincere as any of his other straight talk.
As a person who believes in repentance and forgiveness I should comment on why these issues prevent me from EVER supporting John McCain. I believe that a man can repent and be forgiven, but that doesn’t exempt him from facing consequences.
I will not vote for someone who has cheated on their wife, period. McCain cheated on his wife with a beautiful 25 year old with enough family money to launch his political career.
Believe what you want about his supposed straight talk. I am grateful to him for his service to our country, but I would never vote for him.
Huck vows to review controversial shooting

“Mike Huckabee vowed in Iowa on Saturday that one of his first actions as president would be to review what he called the “absurd” convictions of Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean — and suggested he might pardon them immediately.”
““Our president has sided with the drug dealers and the criminals over law enforcement,” Rohrabacher said. “The president’s stubborn and heartless side is all too evident in this case of Ramos and Compean.” “

Where Huckabee loses me
Posted by "Pat Buchanan, Jr." on December 07, 2007 at 04:41 PM
A good article by World Net Daily Founder Joseph Farah who talks about Huckabee’s view on the government’s role in social issues. He makes some great points that Christians as individuals are responsible for helping the poor, not the US government.
“The first troubling discovery is that, as governor, Huckabee was a tax-raiser to put Bill Clinton to shame. Worse than that, now he tries to tell audiences the courts and legislature twisted his arm to sign that tax hike. But there is just no evidence to support that interesting revisionist view of reality.”
“The second troubling finding is his support (there is really no other word for it) for illegal immigration. As governor, he helped Arkansas serve as a magnet for illegal immigrants who wanted jobs in the Tyson chicken plants or in-state tuition rates unavailable to American citizens from neighboring states or a Mexican consulate generously offered up to the Mexican government for free.”
“As Christians, they are confusing the role we as individuals are assigned as followers of Jesus with the role of government. When Jesus tells us to feed the hungry and clothe the naked, He is not suggesting we transfer that personal responsibility to government. He is not suggesting we transfer that responsibility to our neighbors. He is not suggesting, as the old saying goes, we rob Peter to pay Paul. This is a personal, individual responsibility of the believer.”
Immigration debate unifies California GOP

PCRA’s own Tom Hudson was quoted in this LA Times article about the GOP unifying around Prop 187.
Moderates lose ground as the primary focuses attention on the issue that once split the party.
By Phil Willon
Los Angeles Times Staff Writer
December 5, 2007
Thirteen years after a ballot measure against illegal immigration fractured the state Republican Party, the issue again is front and center in California’s upcoming presidential primary.
Moderates who have argued that an unyielding stance against illegal immigration would further erode the party’s strength in this increasing polyglot state have effectively been silenced by GOP forces calling for a hard-line crackdown.
The escalating rhetoric in the GOP presidential primary has fed their retreat.
So, too, has a striking increase in the number of Californians who blame illegal immigration for the state’s problems.
“There is more unity among Republicans in this state on illegal immigration than on anything else, including taxes,” said Tom Hudson, chairman of the Republican Party in Placer County, near Sacramento, one of the most conservative counties in the state.
Nancy Pelosi tries to force the Salvation Army to hire people who can't speak English
Posted by "Pat Buchanan, Jr." on November 19, 2007 at 10:03 PM
We can’t make this stuff up folks.
“It’s been less than a week since New York’s Sen. Hillary Clinton and Gov. Eliot Spitzer had to climb down from their support of driver’s licenses for illegal aliens. Now House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has moved to kill an amendment that would protect employers from federal lawsuits for requiring their workers to speak English. Among the employers targeted by such lawsuits: the Salvation Army.”
11 of 18 in SD burn unit are illegal immigrants
Posted by "Pat Buchanan, Jr." on October 31, 2007 at 09:53 PM
So, your candidate for President is soft on immigration, or even fought for safe haven cities to house them. Or, you just don’t care about the issue.
And don’t worry, you won’t have to pay for this hospital treatment. No. Your kids and grandkids will. I hope you taught them to save their pennys.
“The fact that 11 of the 18 wildfire victims lying in UCSD Medical Center’s burn unit are illegal immigrants with no apparent health coverage highlights the daunting financial challenge hospitals face in providing long-term, intensive care for all those who need it.”
“Last year, the average cost of treating a burn patient at UCSD was $45,000 for an average 15-day stay.”
Find out how much your grand kids will be paying here.
