Illegal immigrants may get Bush rebates

Yes, it’s true. More insane policies by the Bush Administration. You’d think we already had Hillary as President with these laws passed of late. When is this country going to finally wake up and see what’s its doing to destroy itself. We need change in this country. I’m tired of the politics as usual crowd.
“In their bipartisan zeal to quickly cut a deal on an economic stimulus bill, GOP lawmakers overlooked something that will certainly inflame the conservative base _ illegal immigrants could receive a tax rebate check from the government.”
Rocklin School Board update - expected to torpedo charter school
Posted by Aaron Park on January 13, 2008 at 08:22 PM
Mark this one as unbelievable – informed sources in Rocklin have called and e-mailed this blogger.
Recently, Ted Gaines and others attended a School Board meeting over a Charter for a new High School in Rocklin. Gaines, Doolittle and Chalie Brown(!) (the Tin Soldier) all have publicly endorsed a Charter for the 7-12 Western Sierra Collegiate Academy.
The amazing part is that a new Charter School would bring jobs to Rocklin. It would not impact current facilities.
At the previous school board meeting, the questions asked by the school board were amazing – one about low achievers by Camille Maben (a liberal Democrat who works for the CA Dept of Education for a day job) and English as a Second Language Education by Greg Dailey.
It appears to this blogger that the school board was grasping for Red Herrings to deny a charter to the school. Rocklin is 99% white or something like it and has almost no need at all for ESL… low achieving students have a variety of special options (way more than average students do) and it is a standard teacher’s union attack against Charter Schools to bring that issue up.
In the past, the Rocklin School board has made life difficult for the Rocklin Academy – including forcing the Academy onto two separate campuses (to drive costs up?) and limiting access to Rocklin Academy by opposing expansion and mandating that 20% of the students come from outside of Rocklin.
The 20% mandate effectively limits the size of the academy because most kids want to go to school in their own neighborhood – and, Rocklin taxpayers paid for a facility their own children are precluded from using.
The dramatic irony here is my sources have told me that at this time the board is expected to vote on the Charter for WSCA as follows:
Democrat Camille Maben: Yes
Democrat Wendy Lang: Yes
Republican Greg Dailey: No
Republican Todd Lowell: No
Republican Steve Paul: No
The Placer GOP endorsed all three Republican members at one time due in no small part to their professed support of Charter Schools. As you see from the above, the Republicans are going to be on the wrong side of the issue!
I am in possession of their candidate questionnaires from 2006 and they paint a very different picture than what is about to occur on Wednesday.
Please come and make sure they see you when they vote – This meeting will start at 7:00 pm at the Rocklin School Board District Office (2615 Sierra Meadows Drive, Rocklin) on Wednesday Jan 16th.
Behind the Meltdown: Lincoln's boom fades out

Betting on boom left town with huge bill
By Dale Kasler, Jim Wasserman and Phillip Reese SacBee
This is a great article and shows the greed and lengths people will go in order to live the “good life.” It also shows why you should NEVER vote for a school bond. Just K-12 accounts for 50% of the CA budget and then you have those ridiculous Mello Roos bonds on top of that, and these people have the guts to ask for MORE????? And voters are giving them more? What a waste! No wonder so many people moved out of this state and are starting to move out again. These “leaders” should have to pay these bonds back themselves. $190 MILLION in the hole? Are you kidding me? Who was asleep at the wheel while all this spending going on? So the taxpayers are going to be expected to pay for the housing bust and now they’re going to ask us to bail out these worthless government leaders who spent outlandish amounts of money “to keep up with Rocklin and Roseville.” You know what, if you want to be like Roseville and Rocklin so badly than move there! This spending would make the drunken sailors in Washington DC blush. I want answers!!!

But unlike other communities, Lincoln has an additional bill to pay, and it’s a whopper: nearly $190 million in debt facing its tiny school district, the result of an ambitious construction program undermined by a housing market gone soft. The district, Western Placer Unified, has been forced to postpone additional schools, including an eagerly awaited high school to serve the families that flocked to the Twelve Bridges development.
The Marones have put their house up for sale, too, so they can move to a rural setting in Loomis. They’re braced for a loss: The house cost them $529,000, plus $130,000 on a backyard pond and other upgrades. They’ve listed it for $525,000.
Western Placer is deeply in debt. It owes nearly $190 million, including interest, through 2036. Cash reserves will be sufficient the next few years, but starting in 2011 it will face shortfalls of $3 million to $4 million a year through 2024, said Dominico, the consultant working with the district.
She said the district is mulling a plan to stretch out the debt to 2047. That will reduce each year’s payment enough to get Western Placer through the lean times. But it will cost about $70 million in extra interest over time, she said.
Western Placer spent its money on things like state-of-the-art science and computer labs, art facilities, even skylights.
Amazing Grace

As a film buff and somebody who watches a movie day
either rented at the local blockbuster or at the movie
palace down the street. It is hard to watch a film or
renting one without the disgust of being told that
being an American is bad, being a Christian is bad, or being a member of the US Military is really really bad.
There was one movie that came out in 2006 that has made
me believe that there is hope in hollywood and film
was AMAZING GRACE.
Of course, the film is a drama based on the life story of
William Wilberforce in England and his fight against the
Slave Trade. The film makes Christianity a good thing,
sticking to principles a good thing, and beating the
established rule a great thing. Wilberforce is shown to
be funny, dramatic, and yes a person everyone would like
even women.
I have seen the movie four times, rented it, and even bought
it. I would make everyone see it and learn from it. What
Conservatives can learn from the movie is be smart, be
cunning, and be true to your convictions. See the movie
and don’t bend from your principles.
