Tom McClintock Update - Rockstar Reception in Lincoln

Posted by Aaron Park on July 04, 2008 at 02:04 PM

Rumors of McClintock’s disappearance are grossly exaggerated.

As the noose of Gay Marriage, $5 a gallon Gas and wildfires tighten around the Democrats… Charlie Brown and Tom McClintock were part of separate displays in Lincoln.

The Bay-Area transplants who moved to Lincoln (and haven’t figured out that their fellow liberals made a mess of the Bay Area) made the bulk of Colonel Klink’s audience. As the Tin Soldier received tepid response…

McClintock was accompanied by a few local elected officials and volunteers (including Ken Campbell). My friend Ron Sherrod towed Bob Backus’ now-famous trailer through the parade route.

While people clapped for Brown, they cheered for McClintock. Apparently, the people of Lincoln know who their next Congressman is. Despite any attempts to paint McClintock otherwise, people up here take to the man every time they see him. (Remember, McClintock’s run for governor started in Placer County)

As an important side note – due to the massive effort of Doug Ose, many in Washington D.C. hadn’t really been able to digest McClintock’s victory. This caused McClintock to have to go back to D.C. since the primary victory.

In other news – McClintock has hired a new staff member and is gearing up the fall campaign. Mark Spannagel – recently with (Doug Ose supporter) Doug LaMalfa’s staff has been added to team McClintock reuniting him with some of his longtime associates.

This will include:

Meeting with local elected officials

Laying out an infastructure plan.

Re-Tooling the website.

Meanwhile – Colonel Klink is facing some serious delimmas. It appears that some of the far-left are abandoning him.

While he packs his schedule with public appearances (he is a full-time candidate while McClintock has another job – remember, Ose wanted to make sure we never forgot that fact…) Colonel Klink is facing some critical policy decisions…

Given the fact that his recent press release about gun rights was tepid and occurred some 4 days after the landmark Supreme Court decision – the pressure from the left seems to be hampering Colonel Klink’s efforts to move to the center.

What will Charlie say about Gay Marriage?

What will Charlie do about his public endorsement of John McCain?

Will he support drilling?

He is in a vice-grip… the far left whose money he drank in in 2006, are jumping ship…
