Jones enters 4th District race

Posted by "Pat Buchanan, Jr." on April 03, 2008 at 08:41 PM

“The Republican race for the Fourth Congressional District is shuffling once again.

Citrus Heights attorney Suzanne Jones has officially filed papers and has announced she will vie for the seat being vacated by Rep. John Doolittle, R-Roseville, who said in January he would not seek a 10th term in Congress.

Though she currently lives in Citrus Heights, she said she has plans to move back to Granite Bay.”

Wow, I guess another person outside the district is running…that makes it 3 of 3 now. Does that issue really matter in this race now?

The residents of CA-4 are in the process of hiring someone who will go to Washington DC to join a group of men and women from other areas of this country. We want to make a good hire because there are extraordinarily daunting challenges facing this region and this nation.

Just look at the news from yesterday. 81% of Americans think we are heading in the wrong direction. The unemployment rate in California has risen to 5.7%, substantialy
fueled by a housing slump. The Senate was having hearings on the Bear Stearns meltdown and bailout to avoid this whole nation falling into a financial abyss. Crude oil driven price inflation is ravaging the middle class.

All this said, it seems foolish to look at the job application of the person we want to hire and subtract points because he or she does not currently live here. We need someone who can transcend ideology in favor of problem solving for the common good of the hurting American middle class. We need someone who has the vision to see the whole of what we are up against. And has the heart to work with others who have differing ideas…Let’s focus on making a good hire this time…
