Part Two of the Ose Emporer's Club - Why did they do it?

Posted by Aaron Park on March 18, 2008 at 09:33 AM

In Placer County, we have a solid Republican majority and many good Conservatives in office. Many of these Conservatives have supported local tax measures (bonds, parcel taxes, etc…) to the chagrin of the local activist community.

This also has set the local electeds at odds with the Central Committee several times.

This issue is key to understanding why the Local Electeds have stood by Ose even with the emergence of California’s leading Conservative voice entering the 4th CD fray.

Doug Ose has voted for Earmarks and as a Congressman could be relied upon to endorse local bond measures.

In speaking with several local electeds, I have been told quite bluntly that they do not think Tom McClintock will be “attentive” to the needs of local government.

The furstration for this blogger is two-fold, the assumption that McClintock dosen’t care and the fact that Ose’s horribly Liberal record did not merit consideration in the decisions of the folks that endorsed him.

When it was Oller vs. Ose, it was all about Rico Oller and how much people did not like him. With Oller out and McClintock in, it has become all about the unyielding McClintock and the assumption that McClintock won’t “bring home the bacon” so to speak.

The rest of the so-called issues about residency are a smokescreen, and the people up the hill whining about McClintock wanting to swipe our water are xenophobic plain and simple.

Why the monicre? When you choose an abortion rights supporter who opposes gun rights who opposes defending marriage who opposes defending the pledge who opposes securing our borders – simply because he will endorse local bond measures and bring home earmarks… it is absurd, infuriating and indicitave of a major compromise.

It gets worse, the Ose Emporer’s club not only is turning a blind eye to his stances on issues, they don’t seem to care about his legacy of attacking other Republicans.

The MainStreet Partnership spent thousands of dollars assassinating the character of many conservatives who are in office today. Ose has himself been actively involved in targeting Conservatives at the local level and has given money to Democrats running for office over Republicans.

This is one of the most amazing political cycles we will ever see in our lifetime. What are the consequences?

That remains to be seen after the results of the primary…
