Two Birds For McCain
Posted by Ben Mavy on February 21, 2008 at 06:33 PM
With conservatives leaning toward voting Democrat or not voting at all in November, McCain desperately needed a story.
McCain’s friends at the times accomplished two feats with one story last night. Since McCain is not going to win over a single independent vote not already in his camp, he needed to somehow attract gullible conservatives and Bill Clinton lovers. By attacking McCain as a philanderer the times gave McCain both.
Slick Willy fans will now see a bit of the former president in McCain; and talk radio will attempt to rile up conservatives against the left wing media, hoping McCain will be the benefactor.
I don’t know about the rest of you, but my reaction to the story was “so what”. Had it been John Doolittle or another conservative I would have been disappointed or felt betrayed as I did when the Gingrich story broke. But McCain? I don’t think he could possibly disappoint me anymore than he already has. I have absolutely no faith in him.

You continue to disappoint me regarding your comments about Senator McCain. While he may not be the perfect conservative, he is far better than Hillary or Obama. Since it looks like Obama is going to be the Democratic nominee, can you see him as Commander in Chief? He has said he will sit down with our enemies with no pre-conditions. For you and the hard-core conservatives that will not vote for McCain, consider yourself someone that is putting the members of the armed forces and the country at risk.
I’m sorry to disappoint you. You ask if I can see Obama as commander in chief… I agree he would be terrible for our country, but I believe the same to be true about McCain.
I must be missing something… John McCain has done more to destroy the Republican party and the conservative movement than any democrat, yet many Republicans have lined up behind him as though he were capable of being our leader.
Mark, your analysis of McCain’s national security credentials is lacking if you think he’s trustworthy. McCain has been right about ONE thing, that is we didn’t have enough troops on the ground. However, he has been WRONG about MANY things:
1st Amendment
2nd Amendment
1st Amendment
US Sovereignty
1st Amendment
Importance of Interrogations
1st Amendment
Border Security
1st Amendment
Judges
1st Amendment
I left out lots of others, but I hope you get my point. McCain has no respect for the constitution. You love him because you think he is more capable of protecting us. I’m sorry you can’t understand my reservations to support someone who repeatedly attacks my freedoms legislatively, and then has no shame when asking for my vote to defend us Militarily.
I was raised to believe that freedom is a precious gift from god, more valuable than any thing we have on this earth including life itself. McCain doesn’t agree; which begs the question: what exactly is he so interested in defending?
