CRA Endorses Rico Oller and Ted Gaines
Posted by Aaron Park on February 02, 2008 at 04:14 PM
In a clear and irrefutable sign of activist support, the CRA voted to endorse Rico Oller for Congress with 81% of the delegates in favor of Oller.
Eric Egland and Doug Ose split the remainder of delegates present.
The CRA understands that our endorsement goes to candidates whose record most closely mirrors our 14 principles.
CRA Scorecard favorite Ted Gaines (94%) was endorsed by a count of 15-1 for Assembly. Ted has established an excellent Conservative record and has also distinguished himself by endorsing Rico Oller over the establishment choice for the 4th CD.
The CRA has long been known for standing up for the core principles of the Republican Party – including our outspoken support for Governor Romney in these days leading up to super Tuesday.
These endorsements are also underscored in their importance because of Doug Ose’s past affiliation with the Mainstreet Partnership – an organization dedicated to removing the Conservative voice from the GOP and Ose’s past activities have also included attempted takeovers of County GOP committees to remove Conservatives from their ranks.
The Placer CRA and the CRA itself understands the gravity of the coming election on Tuesday for the National GOP and in June for the local GOP.
Polls on Fox news are showing McCain losing to either Dem nominee – is it any wonder when strong GOP areas are having to fight a conscience and future defining battle every few years?
Doug Ose and John McCain are not only tied together in ideology, but by the Mainstreet Partnership.

Legislators highly ranked by the California Republican Assembly line up with Ose
I checked out the CRA website this weekend and found out something very interesting. According to the CRA’s own scorecard, Ose has lined up more conservative support than Oller. Check it out:
2007 Scorecard for Team Oller
Gaines 95%
Keene 80%
Nakanishi 89%
Aanestad 95%
Average CRA conservative rating 89.75%.
2007 Scorecard for Team Ose.
La Malfa 95%
Niello 85%
Cox 95%
Average CRA conservative rating 91.66%.
Conservative Advantage Ose!
Ok, so maybe this is just a fluke. It couldn’t be that Ose’s support is more conservative than Oller’s, could it?
So I checked 2006.
2006 Scorecard for Team Oller
Keene 71%
Nakanishi 76%
Aanasted 82%
Average CRA conservative 76.33%.
2006 Scorecard for Team Ose
La Malfa 100%
Niello 71%
Cox 82%
Average CRA conservative rating was 84.33%
Conservative Advantage Ose Once Again!
So the next time someone tells you that Oller is the conservative in this race, make sure he knows that according to the CRA, more conservatives are lining up behind Ose.
Please note that this commenter has the same information as commenters at this and other sites – this time using a different pseudonym.
I will post the same response to the scorecard watchers… there is no score card to approximate what people are doing when they are outside the legislature. I will focus on Doug LaMalfa
-You can put a dress on a pig, but you still have a pig. This is an analogy to Ose’s liberal record.
Leave us not forget that laMalfa’s associates are the liberal sutter county
board of supervisors, Jim Nielsen – the Godfather of Johanessen and Dickerson as well as Sue Horne who use to work for Bernie Richter.
Richter, Dickerson and Johnannesen used to talk the talk and then sell usdown the river. I guess LaMalfa votes good, but takes after the aforementioned in his choices to endorse.
C’est la vie… ain’t no scorecard for those!
“Conservative Keri”
This might just be the dumbest comparison I’ve ever seen between two voting records. Who cares about the voting records of their supporters. Let’s actually see what the voting records of the ELECTEDS shows…
Oller v. Ose’s CRA scoring record:
2000 CRA Assembly Scorecard
Oller: 100%
2001 CRA Senate Scorecard
Oller: 95%
(dinged 5% for a missed vote due to a health issue)
2003 CRA Senate Scorecard
Oller: 100%
2004 CRA Senate Scorecard
Oller: 100%
Rico has an A+ rating from the NRA and was given the Defender of Freedom Award by the NRA in 2000. Chris Cox from the NRA has nothing but the best to say about Rico and how well he defends the Second Amendment. They backed him in 2000 and will no doubt be backing him again in this race.
From a press release dated 1/17/08 from the Gun Owner of America:
“Rico has a primary opponent in former liberal Republican Congressman Doug Ose. During Ose’s six years in Congress, he earned a GOA “F” on every single one of our ratings for house members. Doug Ose probably has his picture framed and hanging on the wall at Handgun Control Inc. (now the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun violence), since he was one of their best friends in Congress. In contrast — Rico Oller was a perfect “A” rated member of the
California Legislature during his tenure. And, Rico is the human
equivalent of the “energizer bunny.” This guy is a type A++ personality, who never stops campaigning and promoting our Second
Amendment rights. Every time Gun Owners has an event in California, Rico Oller is there, promoting our organization and the Second Amendment. And he will be there for gun owners all over the country when he is elected to Congress.”
Ose on the issues:
Voted NO on Constitutional Amendment banning same-sex marriage. (Sep 2004)
Ose Voted NO on protecting the Pledge of Allegiance. (Sep 2004)
Ose Voted NO on banning gay adoptions in DC. (July 1999)
Ose Voted NO on military border patrols to battle drugs & terrorism. (Sep 2001)
Ose Supports immediate reductions in greenhouse gases. (Sep 1998)
Ose Voted NO on passage of the Bush Administration national energy policy. (June 2004)
Ose Voted NO on implementing Bush-Cheney national energy policy. (Nov 2003)
Ose Rated 61% by the Christian Coalition: mixed voting record on families. (Dec 2003)
Ose Voted NO on decreasing gun waiting period from 3 days to 1. (June 1999)
Ose Rated D+ by the NRA, indicating a pro-gun control voting record. (Dec 2003)
Ose Voted NO on reporting illegal aliens who receive hospital treatment. (May 2004)
Ose Rated 0% by FAIR, indicating a voting record loosening immigration. (Dec 2003)
Ose Rated 59% by NTU, indicating “Satisfactory” on tax votes. (Dec 2003)
From Human Events:
“Easily the hardest-fought GOP primary for the U.S. House was in the 3rd District (Sacramento), where moderate Republican Rep. Doug Ose is retiring after six years. In what could be a dramatic upset, at press time, former State Attorney General (1990-94) and 1998 gubernatorial nominee Dan Lungren held a slim lead over the long-presumed front-runner, State Sen. Rico Oller, by far the most conservative candidate.”
Please note that once again Mr. Park has his information wrong. This comment was posted at one other site (redcounty.com/placercountyca) and it was posted under the EXACT same pseudonym. And, last time I checked, the Supreme Court hadn’t outlawed posting the same thing at different sites (the idea is for more readers to get the information, kind of like running campaign commercials on different networks during different shows) nor the common practice of using a pseudonym when commenting. The bottom line remains the same: Ose has more conservative support than does Oller.
Come on!
Who’s kidding who?
Folks can argue about endorsements all they want but the record tells the truth.
On Guns Oller 100% Pro-Gun Ose 100% Anti-Gun
On Life Oller 100% Pro-Life Ose 100% Anti-Life
On freedom to speak during elections Oller 100% Pro-1st Amdmt Ose 100%
Anti-1st Amdmt.
I can’t help but think that if Arnold Schwarzenegger had served in Congress
instead of Ose…he would have voted accumulated the exact same voting
record…Hmmm. I’m starting to see the resemblance…
