Comparing Candidates - Logue's vs Horne's Endorsements

Posted by Aaron Park on January 13, 2008 at 11:48 AM

We have been treated to quite a few e-mails regarding the 3rd Assembly District race – I decided to take a step back and use the candidate’s websites to draw a distinction.

When you visit Dan Logue’s Website, the sidebar has a button that Jumps out at you -

Standing Tall Against Liberalism

The page on Logue’s site includes choice snippets such as -

“And, he fought for those Republicans because he believed that liberals like Nancy Pelosi and Phil Angelides will run our state and nation into the ground if we let them.”

Sue Horne, however has endorsements from “Republicans” that seem to like people like Angelides (as in Steve Westley and Bill Lockyer).

You also see no such proud assertions other than brief contextual messages on Horne’s site about being Conservative.Horne’s Past campaign e-mails have attacked Dan Logue for protecting private property rights and have celebrated a dead-end recall formented by the Enviros and Labor Unions.

Taking a further look into the endorsement lists – you see a proliferation of endorsements from out of the District on Horne’s site and when you look at the endorsements from within the district – you should instantly notice the endorsements of non-Republicans. This is a primary, and in a primary you are appealing to Republican voters.

Perhaps Dan Logue’s website exemplifies a Republican candidate with Republican credentials the best. Of course the candidates are going to tout their credentials – but the local activist leaders – not the entrenched establishment best typify the pulse of the voters.

Recently, Dan Logue announced the endorsement of four past County GOP Chairman from Sue Horne’s home County of Nevada. Greg Marks, Karen Chileski, Dick Marshall and Tony Gilchrease all signed a letter of support.

Current Republican Leaders such as:
Karna Boyer, Chairman Sutter County GOP
John Byrne, Chairman, Butte County GOP
Steve Thompson, Vice-Chairman, Butte County GOP
Jerry Crippen, Chairman Yuba County GOP
Rocky Deal, Chairman, Lassen County GOP
Tom Hudson, Chairman, Placer County GOP
George Park, Jr. Vice-Chairman, Placer County GOP

When you add bona-fide Conservative organizations like the Young Americans for Freedom, The National Tax Limitation Committee and several property rights organizations to the mix – the choice becomes clear… Don Logue.

Yeah, going to have to stick with Jack Lee on this one.

Impressive list of endorsements to be sure, but I know Jack, I know th kind of man he is and the type of legislator he would be.

Jack would not only be a dependable conservative, he would be a persuasive one.

It simply isn’t good enough to vote appropriately; you need to be able to convince your peers.

I would love to see Jack, Sue and Dan have a debate, but I don’t think that is going to happen.

And I think it will largely be, because Dan and Sue don’t want it.
